About the role
This working student position is based in Munich and supports sustainability-focused materials research for transformer applications. The role is part of Würth Elektronik, a global producer and distributor of electronic components, including printed circuit boards, electronic components, electromechanical parts, and complete system assemblies. You will get hands-on exposure to scientific research work in a practical setting, with a focus on evaluating environmentally responsible material options and turning study knowledge into applied insights.
What you will do
- Carry out detailed literature research and review current developments in materials used for transformers.
- Explore new sustainable and lower-impact alternatives to standard materials.
- Assess and compare material characteristics, technical performance, environmental effects, and relevant compliance aspects.
- Prepare written summaries, presentations, and documentation with conclusions and recommendations.
- Track market movements and technology trends linked to sustainable transformer materials.
What you should bring
- Academic background in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Strong ability to search and evaluate scientific and technical sources.
- Experience with research databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, or patent databases is preferred.
- Confident written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong analytical ability and a critical approach to information.
