Job Details
Start date: 01.08.2026
Duration: 12 to 24 months
Working hours: 20 hours per week, with the possibility of working up to 37.5 hours per week during lecture-free periods.
Role Overview
In this position, you will assist the Global Sourcing Expert in day-to-day sourcing and procurement activities. You will work with the Düsseldorf team and interact with international suppliers who support METRO country subsidiaries.
Key Tasks
- Support sourcing and procurement workflows as part of the team.
- Communicate with suppliers and help gather and evaluate offers.
- Assist with tender preparation and coordination.
- Compare product samples and contribute to packaging development.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance.
- Check and maintain article master data in the internal system.
- Help improve procurement processes and service quality.
- Gain exposure to related functions such as sourcing, packaging, design, quality, Own Brand Management, and supply chain.
Candidate Profile
- You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program and will remain enrolled for at least another year.
- Your studies are in business administration, supply chain management, marketing, or economics.
- You have strong communication and organizational abilities.
- You enjoy collaborating in a team environment.
- You are comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, as well as Teams.
- You bring an authentic, honest, curious, and proactive mindset and are comfortable taking on challenges.
- You work in a results-oriented way and are willing to think broadly while also digging into details.
- You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Additional Information
This opportunity is for a working student role based onsite in Düsseldorf. The contract can run for up to 24 months, and mentoring is available for the duration of the assignment, capped at 2 years.
