Job description

About the organisation

Beyond Bank Australia is a member-owned mutual bank with a long-standing credit union background. It serves more than 300,000 members across Australia and operates over 50 branches nationwide. The organisation is focused on improving lives for members and communities, and it operates as a Certified B Corp with a strong emphasis on social and environmental responsibility.

The bank’s values centre on putting members first, strengthening communities, pursuing shared goals and advancing sustainability. Its workplace behaviours include taking ownership, speaking up when needed, showing respect, delivering strong work, making a positive impact, and doing the right thing in the right way.

Role overview

This part-time opportunity is for three days per week within a hybrid working model. The role sits within the People & Culture team and supports the WHS and Wellbeing Manager by helping coordinate everyday work health, safety and wellbeing activities across the business. It is suited to someone looking to develop or progress a career in WHS while enjoying flexibility and work-life balance.

The position offers a pro-rata salary package in the range of $58,100 to $61,300.

Key duties

  • Oversee the handling of hazards and incidents, making sure follow-up actions happen on time and escalations are raised when necessary.
  • Assist with investigations, corrective action tracking, and upkeep of WHS records and registers.
  • Help draft, review and communicate WHS policies, procedures and related documentation.
  • Manage the WHS inbox by sorting enquiries, assigning actions and following them through to closure.
  • Monitor audit outcomes and action items, while maintaining accurate evidence and reporting.
  • Organise WHS meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, minute-taking and action tracking.

About you

You may come from a WHS coordination background, or from a broader administration or support role where you have developed a genuine interest in building a career in work health and safety. Success in the role will rely on accuracy, organisation, initiative and the ability to manage competing priorities.

You should be comfortable working with systems and procedures, communicating clearly, and handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Confidence in building collaborative relationships and proactively following up tasks will also be important.

Experience with Protecht, as well as supporting audits or gathering evidence, is advantageous but not essential.

Working arrangements

  • Permanent part-time employment at three days per week.
  • Hybrid setup with approximately 60% office time and 40% remote work.
  • Flexible working arrangements are available.

Team and culture

You will join the People & Culture function, working alongside professionals who partner with internal and external stakeholders to attract, retain, develop and engage employees while supporting the organisation’s purpose.

Benefits

  • Three additional paid days each year for work-life balance.
  • Paid volunteer days to support community organisations across Australia.
  • Access to employee discounts, wellbeing initiatives, and employee and family assistance support.
  • A flexible and inclusive working environment.
  • Learning, coaching and career development opportunities.

Inclusion and accessibility

The organisation welcomes applications from candidates reflecting the diversity of the communities it serves, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ people and culturally diverse community members.

It is committed to an accessible recruitment experience. Candidates who need adjustments to the application, selection or assessment process, or accessibility modifications for the workplace, can request support via the recruitment contact provided in the source information.

Recruitment process and screening

The hiring process may include a phone screen, video screen, virtual or in-person interview, psychometric testing and relevant background checks. Some roles may also require four weeks of mandatory full training.

Pre-employment screening may include APRA, ASIC, bankruptcy, National Criminal History Check, VEVO, adverse media checks and reference checks, with the cost covered by the employer.
