Job description
Position Overview
This role supports the women's soccer program's operations while also advancing the athletic department's performance initiatives, student-athlete development, and wellness programs. The responsibilities encompass coaching aid, recruitment assistance, program administration, as well as development and management of sport-specific conditioning programs using the TeamBuildr platform. The position aims to enhance athlete readiness, injury prevention, return-to-play management, and foster collaboration among coaching and athletic training staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the head women's soccer coach with daily tasks including administration, recruiting, organizing practices, field duties, camps, and fundraising activities.
- Oversee care, maintenance, and organization of soccer equipment and fulfill any additional assigned duties.
- Collaborate with the head coach to plan travel logistics for games including accommodation, transportation, meal arrangements, equipment handling, and itineraries.
- Support film analysis, opponent scouting, scouting report creation, and management of video software uploads.
- Attend all games and scrimmages, including travel to away matches.
- Monitor student-athlete progress in academics, attendance, personal adjustment, and financial aid alongside the head coach.
- Coordinate student study support, athletic tutoring, and supervise academic performance.
- Assist in guiding student-athletes for university placement.
- Become proficient in Pellissippi State's student-athlete development software and programs.
- Design and implement sport-specific training regimens, manage programs via TeamBuildr, adapting them per training cycles, season phases, travel, and competition demands.
- Track athlete participation and compliance through TeamBuildr.
- Contribute to year-round athletic development models, addressing in-season, off-season, preseason, and return-to-play phases.
- Monitor and manage athlete workload and training volume to aid injury prevention.
- Analyze training load trends, communicating findings to coaches and athletic trainers.
- Support functional movement screening and readiness assessments.
- Implement return-to-play programming for injured athletes.
- Maintain accurate performance and participation records for athletes.
- Fulfill other college-directed duties aligned with strategic priorities and mission.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum educational requirement: High school diploma; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Certification required in strength and conditioning or sport performance (e.g., NCSF certification).
- Certification in soccer coaching through U.S. Soccer or an equivalent international federation.
- At least two years of soccer coaching experience preferred.
- Experience in student-athlete recruitment preferred.
- Understanding of strength and conditioning principles, injury prevention, and long-term athlete development.
- Familiarity with TeamBuildr or similar athletic training performance management software is preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Proficiency in soccer coaching techniques, player development, and game strategy.
- Ability to monitor and support academic and athletic progress of students.
- Organizational skills and ability to build relationships and manage public relations.
- Computer literacy including athletic performance and training software platforms.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical and Environmental Expectations
Work environments include gymnasiums, weight rooms, and outdoor settings. Physical demands require stamina to move around, lift medium-weight items up to 50 pounds, balance, and stand for long periods. Visual and auditory abilities must support observation of moving players and communicating with groups. The position frequently exposes the worker to outdoor weather elements and potentially to bloodborne pathogens.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $35,340 to $43,090 annually, determined by relevant work experience listed on the application.
