Job description

Position Overview

The Philipps-Universität Marburg, founded in 1527 and serving roughly 22,000 students, is seeking a Scientific Research Associate (Doctoral Candidate) for the Physics Department's research group "Physics of Solar Energy Conversion." This position is part-time (75%) and fixed for 3 years, remunerated according to the TV-H salary group E 13, with the earliest possible start date. The role involves participation in a DFG-funded project exploring innovative materials based on organic framework compounds with hydrogen bonds (HOF) for use in optoelectronic devices, particularly focusing on perovskite-based tandem solar cells incorporating sustainable materials. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for fabrication and characterization of perovskite solar cells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scientific research concentrating on optical and electrical characterization of novel organic framework compounds (HOF), particularly using photoluminescence-based techniques.
  • Develop processes for layer deposition involving organic framework compounds.
  • Fabricate and characterize solar cells.
  • Disseminate research findings through international conferences and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Opportunities to gain teaching experience within the "Physics of Green Technologies" degree program.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed university degree (Diploma, Master or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor physics or organic framework compounds.
  • Prior knowledge in photovoltaics, perovskite solar cell fabrication, thin-film technologies, as well as characterization and simulation of semiconductor materials is advantageous.
  • Willingness to pursue a doctoral qualification, focusing on new material systems for photovoltaic applications.
