Role overview
The Site WHS Officer will partner closely with the operations team at a Fulfillment Center to carry out workplace safety policies and maintain alignment with all applicable local and regional regulations. The role focuses on using lean methods and kaizen-driven improvements to lower condition-related and ergonomic risks, helping create a safe and healthy environment for associates.
Key impact areas
This position is expected to influence the operations team by building trust, strengthening confidence, and using risk assessments along with safety data analysis to drive change. The officer should communicate clearly and consistently in both spoken and written form, and work with site leaders to embed safety standards into day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside site operations teams to implement company safety policies.
- Ensure the site follows all relevant local and regional safety regulations.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts using lean principles and kaizen practices.
- Reduce ergonomic and condition-based risks within operational processes.
- Prepare and use risk assessments and safety data to guide improvements.
- Build strong working relationships with Operations and influence safe work practices.
- Train and coach Operations Leaders on company safety policies and standards.
- Help site teams adopt and sustain safety standards in daily operations.
- Identify effective practices and integrate them into safety programs and standards.
- Apply knowledge of safety, environmental, and ergonomic practices to support Operations.
Requirements
- Prior experience in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related function.
- At least 1 year of growing responsibility in EHS, environmental programs, or work health and safety.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts based on business needs.
- Experience applying lean principles and process improvement in an operational setting.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to use safety expertise to support operational teams effectively.
