Job description
Role overview
The WHS Officer will partner with the site operations team at a Fulfillment Center to carry out workplace safety policies and make sure the site follows all relevant local and regional rules. Using lean methods and kaizen practices, this role will drive ongoing improvements to lower environmental and ergonomic risks and support a safe, healthy workplace for associates. The position also calls for strong influence skills, backed by risk assessments and safety data analysis, to build trust with the operations team and encourage better safety practices.
Key responsibilities
The officer will guide operations leaders on company safety requirements, help site teams adopt safety standards, and identify practical improvements that can be built into broader safety procedures. The role requires clear communication, both spoken and written, and the ability to share concise, consistent safety guidance. The person in this role should also apply solid knowledge of safety programs, environmental safety, and ergonomics while working closely with operations.
Basic qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental studies, or a similar field, or at least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior safety experience in a distribution center or manufacturing setting, especially in a site with 200 or more employees and a mix of exempt and non-exempt staff.
- A master’s degree.
- Background in a fast-moving organization that changes and grows quickly.
- Government-certified safety professional status.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort working with site leaders.
- Ability to set department objectives and build execution strategies.
- Good analytical ability with proven problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and direction.
