Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Conducting risk assessments and audits to identify and manage safety concerns
• Monitoring site operations to ensure all activities comply with Amazon’s safety protocols
• Generating and maintaining reports on safety metrics for review by team members
• Collaborating with and guiding employees from operational and corporate teams on safety policies and procedures
• Assisting with the implementation of new safety initiatives and measures

A Typical Day

Working on-site at one of Amazon's logistics centers, you will closely watch daily operations, and employees will approach you with safety-related inquiries during their shifts. You are expected to proactively identify potential hazards before they escalate. Your continuous site evaluations include observing how staff utilize equipment and understanding functions of tasks and machinery to ensure optimal safety across processes. You will be an essential driver of safety improvements and will work directly with numerous individuals to enforce changes.

In addition to routine daily and weekly duties, you will provide support to operational teams as needed to address safety issues. Your role also involves collecting vital data to analyze processes, prevent hazards, and share important information throughout the company, reinforcing Amazon’s commitment to safety as a priority.

About the Team

The workplace safety team is fundamental to maintaining the mental and physical health of employees at Amazon locations. Alongside managers, partner firms, and local authorities, the WHS team ensures compliance with all regulations and that working environments remain safe. The multi-disciplinary team includes safety engineers and program managers who collectively uphold Amazon’s stringent safety standards. Team members collaborate across various projects including equipment and process inspections and evaluations of process, building, and equipment design.

Qualifications

• Completed vocational training or relevant practical experience in a related field
• Proven ability to use data analytics to generate and support safety metrics
• Fluent German language skills
• Good command of English

Preferred Attributes

• Experience communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders via writing or presentations
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Certification as a safety specialist is advantageous
