Job description

Job Overview

This role is based at Alupuram Works, a manufacturing plant producing over 12,000 TPA of aluminium extrusions, situated on a 128-acre site in Kerala with assets valued around Rs. 600 Crores. The Welfare Officer will manage employee welfare and relations, oversee security of company property, and coordinate extensive CSR initiatives within a local population of 35,000. The position requires working within stringent Kerala labor laws, promoting harmony amid strong union presence, and supporting company growth and expansion projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement all welfare activities in line with the Factories Act, ensuring smooth administration of the company’s welfare funds.
  • Liaise with governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as trade unions to maintain positive relationships and facilitate smooth negotiations.
  • Plan and execute CSR projects for education, women empowerment, infrastructure, and healthcare within surrounding villages, coordinating with local bodies and NGOs to maximize funding and impact.
  • Supervise security and vigilance of company premises and assets to prevent theft and encroachment, including managing outsourced security services and coordinating with police and fire authorities.
  • Manage communication with employees, unions, and stakeholders through meetings, newsletters, and other channels to foster a harmonious work environment.
  • Administer residential quarters, guesthouses, and related hospitality services for employees and visiting dignitaries, ensuring high satisfaction and efficient operation.
  • Monitor contractor labor engagement, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements and facilitating optimal collaboration between departments and contractor teams.

Additional Duties and Challenges

The role involves maintaining strict vigilance over migrant contract laborers for security purposes and supporting project teams during expansions and implementations. Frequent coordination with local authorities and corporate CSR officials is essential. The Welfare Officer must also organize employee recreational activities, Long Service Award and farewell functions, administer scholarship programs, and manage communication infrastructure like conference rooms and in-house magazines.
