Job Overview

The Web Developer I will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining digital banking solutions across the credit union's e-Services ecosystem, which includes platforms such as online and mobile banking. The role requires analyzing business and member needs to design, build, and enhance code, reports, and integrations that improve the digital member experience. The candidate will employ modern development methods including version control, peer code reviews, and the use of AI-assisted development tools consistent with the organization's AI governance and information security standards. Troubleshooting and optimization of existing code to boost efficiency and automation are key aspects of the position. The role strictly follows deployment protocols, dual control, and Change Management procedures throughout the Software Development Life Cycle.

Work Schedule and Location

This position is located in Anaheim Hills, CA, with a hybrid work schedule allowing two days in-office and three days remote per week. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility required for occasional evenings, weekends, or additional in-office days as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of progressive software development experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Minimum of one year of basic proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex, or Figma for coding and related workflows.
  • Basic experience using GitHub or similar version control systems including commits, branching, pull requests, and peer code reviews.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a credit union or financial services environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft SQL, personal computing, Microsoft Office, and network operating systems.
  • Strong research, analytical, problem-solving, and evaluative skills.
  • Understanding of API interfacing, Single Sign-On (SSO), SQL, HTML, CSS, .NET, and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with change management, Software Development Life Cycle, Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Effective time management and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Creative approach to problem solving and excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with other departments.
  • Compliance with regulatory standards such as Information Security, OFAC, and BSA as related to job duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Codex, and Claude for code generation, documentation, and reviews.
  • Regularly apply version control systems and workflows including pull requests, branching, and peer reviews.
  • Develop, test, and implement high-quality code in staging and production environments.
  • Troubleshoot production problems and repair or develop applications to enhance functionality.
  • Create member-facing applications and detailed reports using SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Optimize code for efficiency and automation, ensuring high performance.
  • Provide help desk support through various channels including phone, in-person, and ticketing systems.
  • Document application logic, dataflows, and provide diagrams to support development and future enhancements.
  • Participate actively in dual-control code reviews and production deployments to maintain segregation of duties.
  • Offer operational and on-call support within a 24/7 environment as required.
  • Take initiative in problem ownership, adhering to change management standards, and meeting service level agreements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to proactively prevent system outages and downtime.
  • Scan and rectify code vulnerabilities, maintaining logs for management oversight.
  • Maintain and update the Web Development standards documentation as necessary.
  • Comply fully with the C.A.R.E. 4 behavioral expectations and brand communication standards.
  • Be flexible to work the hybrid schedule and perform additional assigned duties.

Compensation and Additional Information

CU SoCal supports pay transparency and benchmarks compensation at the market's 50th percentile. The annual pay scale ranges from $100,884 to $159,848, with actual salary determined by location, experience, education, and skill level.
