Role summary
This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Sydney Area and also servicing regional NSW. The Water and Wastewater Technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing water and wastewater treatment equipment and the infrastructure connected to it.
In this role, you will monitor how systems are performing, investigate faults, carry out corrective work, and contribute to process optimisation and upgrade activities. You will also keep accurate service records, work in line with safety and environmental requirements, and communicate clearly with customers and internal team members.
The role includes assisting with the creation and execution of tailored maintenance schedules so customers can make the best use of their treatment assets.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect, service, and repair water and wastewater treatment equipment and related infrastructure.
- Track system performance, diagnose issues, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Support process improvements, optimisation initiatives, and upgrade projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service work and site activities.
- Follow workplace safety standards and environmental compliance requirements at all times.
- Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
- Help develop and follow maintenance plans tailored to customer assets and operating needs.
- Travel to customer sites across the Greater Sydney Area and regional NSW as required.
Qualifications and requirements
- Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance, including inspection, servicing, and repair of treatment systems and related assets.
- Working knowledge of water treatment and wastewater treatment processes, operations, and compliance obligations.
- Ability to diagnose faults, understand likely root causes, and suggest practical remediation steps.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to document work clearly and interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- A relevant trade qualification or technical certificate in water operations, mechanical, electrical, or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Awareness of workplace health and safety practices and environmental regulations relevant to water and wastewater environments.
- Ability to work on site in changing conditions, manage time well, and operate independently or within a team.
- Current driver’s licence and the ability to travel to client locations across Greater Sydney and regional NSW.
