Job description
About NLC
NLC is a specialist manager focused on fund finance assets and stands as the largest independent non-bank lender in this market. The firm combines flexible non-bank capital, structuring expertise, deep LP and GP relationships, and technology to deliver fund financing and GP financing solutions at scale across global markets.
The business aims to be the preferred partner across the fund finance ecosystem. It seeks to give institutional investors access to high-quality, investment-grade, risk-adjusted returns while helping private capital managers secure speed, certainty, and tailored solutions where conventional providers may not be able to act quickly enough. NLC is being built on a values-driven culture centred on Excellence, Team Player, Innovation, Integrity, Honest and Open Environment, and Dependability. The team is looking for people who take ownership, question the norm, and help grow a platform designed to lead the market.
About the Role
NLC is hiring a Senior Associate / Vice President to join its Portfolio Management and Capital Integration team. This position sits between portfolio management and capital integration, helping ensure capital is deployed efficiently across the firm’s funding channels while supporting the creation of scalable, flexible, investor-aligned funding structures. The person in this role will work closely with both teams on the structuring, execution, and ongoing management of funding vehicles and funds.
The role calls for 5–7+ years of relevant industry experience, with meaningful exposure to investment management, fund portfolio management, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will be highly commercial, comfortable working independently, able to drive important workstreams, and capable of approaching problems creatively.
Experience in fund finance, credit products, and loan documentation is preferred. However, the strongest emphasis is on sharp analytical and problem-solving ability, paired with excellent communication skills.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist the Head of Portfolio Management with building, running, and supervising NLC’s investment vehicles across commingled funds, SMAs, warehouses, conduits, securitisation structures, and other capital channels.
- Track portfolio performance, expected and realised returns, utilisation, liquidity, early warning signals, and core risk indicators across the platform.
- Support portfolio-level risk analysis covering concentration, correlation, refinancing, counterparty, liquidity, and structural risks.
- Prepare presentations and papers for portfolio reviews, allocation decisions, risk reporting, investor updates, and internal governance committees.
- Develop financial models for new investment mandates and funding structures.
- Assist the Head of Capital Integration with the structuring, launch, and ongoing administration of NLC’s funding vehicles and investor access frameworks.
- Own and improve portfolio management frameworks, systems, and operating processes with an eye toward scale, stronger controls, and better efficiency.
- Coordinate with external service providers, administrators, legal advisers, and other partners to keep funding vehicle operations and investor funding needs running smoothly.
- Prepare materials used for investor RFPs and fund DDQs.
What Will Help You Succeed
- You should be intellectually curious, commercially aware, and comfortable challenging existing ways of working to improve them.
- A strong technical base is expected, ideally supported by a CFA, a relevant degree, or substantial experience in institutional investment management, portfolio management, or capital markets.
- Exposure to credit, interest rates, structured products, fund finance, and related legal documents will be valuable.
- Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, a solid work ethic, and the ability to take full ownership without constant direction.
- The right person will be energetic, collaborative, ambitious, and genuinely motivated to help build the platform.
Experience and Background
Applicants should bring 5 to 7 or more years of relevant experience in investment management, portfolio management, fund finance, capital markets, or a related discipline.
