Job description

Role overview

AXS is hiring a VP, Finance for Europe based in London, with travel across European markets. This senior leadership position is designed for a commercially minded finance executive who can influence strategy, strengthen financial performance, and help steer a growing international business in live entertainment.

In this role, you will own the European finance agenda across governance, reporting, planning, control, and operational excellence. You will work closely with regional and global leaders, act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director, Europe, and contribute directly to business decisions that support growth across multiple countries.

About AXS

AXS is a global ticketing and event technology business that provides ticketing, data, marketing, and fan engagement solutions for major venues, sports organisations, festivals, tours, and live events. Operating as part of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), the company supports millions of ticket sales each year across North America, Europe, and Asia. Since 2011, AXS has expanded across international markets with teams in cities including London, Birmingham, Hamburg, Paris, Stockholm, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Melbourne.

What this role involves

You will lead finance teams across the UK, France, Germany, and Sweden and ensure the region has strong financial controls, reliable reporting, and effective planning. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight, requiring you to manage both high-level direction and day-to-day financial operations.

You will also help shape investment choices, support regional performance, and strengthen finance processes so they can scale alongside the wider business.

Key responsibilities

  • Take overall ownership of the European finance function, making sure governance, controls, and financial performance remain strong across all markets.
  • Lead, coach, and develop finance teams in several countries while encouraging collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the main finance partner for Europe, working with regional and global stakeholders to support business objectives and future expansion.
  • Advise the European leadership team with clear financial insight, commercial thinking, and support for long-term decision-making.
  • Run the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning cycles for the region.
  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports that highlight performance, risks, opportunities, and trends.
  • Support investment proposals, strategic initiatives, and growth plans through strong analysis and guidance.
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, treasury, tax, audit, and financial reporting across Europe.
  • Manage regional consolidation and maintain working relationships with auditors, tax specialists, banks, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory obligations across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and treasury activity.
  • Improve finance systems, controls, processes, and reporting capabilities on an ongoing basis.
  • Promote global finance best practices and keep European finance aligned with global standards.
  • Help build finance structures that can support future international growth.

What the company is looking for

The ideal candidate is an experienced senior finance leader who pairs technical depth with commercial judgement and strong people leadership. You should be comfortable moving between strategic work and operational problem-solving, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders while also supporting your teams in a hands-on way.

You will do well in this role if you are energised by fast-moving businesses, enjoy leading across countries and cultures, and can turn financial information into practical business insight. A collaborative leadership style, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in developing people are important for success.

Experience and qualifications

  • Substantial senior finance leadership experience across accounting, financial control, planning, and commercial finance.
  • Proven background in leading change, improving processes, and driving operational transformation in high-growth environments.
  • Experience managing distributed teams across multiple countries and cultural settings.
  • Strong history of partnering with executive leaders and influencing strategic decisions.
  • Experience working in multinational, multi-currency businesses.
  • Excellent capability in financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and business partnering.
  • Advanced skills in financial modelling, systems, and analysis.
  • Experience with JD Edwards or a similar ERP platform would be an advantage.
  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required, and a recognised professional finance qualification is preferred.

Compensation and bonus

The salary for this position is £150,000 to £180,000 per year, plus benefits. The role is also eligible for a 20% discretionary annual bonus under the current bonus plan.

Why join AXS

This is an opportunity to combine senior finance leadership with an influential role in a fast-growing entertainment business. You will have visibility and impact across the organisation, work with talented colleagues, and help shape the future of the European business while contributing to unforgettable experiences for fans.
