The Hindu seeks a skilled Video Shoot Edit professional to become part of its dynamic digital newsroom team. This individual will be responsible for capturing engaging footage for news, features, interviews, and explainer segments as well as editing content tailored for digital distribution. The candidate should possess sharp visual storytelling skills, expertise in camera operation, and the capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Record high-quality videos covering news stories, interviews, explanatory clips, features, and urgent news from studio and various field locations.
• Handle setup and operation of professional camera, audio, and lighting gear, ensuring output suitable for broadcast standards.
• Edit news packages, explainers, and short videos for online platforms quickly and with editorial precision.
• Produce visually compelling content under tight timeframes, especially during breaking news events.
• Partner with producers, reporters, and editors to craft stories aligning with editorial goals and storytelling vision.
• Upgrade videos by applying graphics, motion design, color correction, sound editing, and other post-production enhancements.
• Adapt and repurpose footage for social media channels and various digital outlets.
• Stay current with advancements in camera technology, AI-enhanced editing software, video production methods, and digital storytelling trends.
• Resolve technical challenges and optimize production workflows to guarantee prompt content delivery.
• Be willing to undertake fieldwork and work flexible hours including weekends as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

• Documented experience as a camera operator, video journalist, or shoot-and-edit expert in a newsroom or digital media environment.
• Extensive practical knowledge of professional video cameras, sound recording gear, lighting, and outdoor production setups.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; familiarity with After Effects and AI-based editing tools is advantageous.
• Deep understanding of visual narrative, shot framing and sequencing, and comprehensive editing techniques.
• Ability to perform well under pressure delivering polished content within stringent deadlines.
• Experience producing content optimized for digital-first and social media contexts.
• Keen eye for detail, sound editorial judgment, and dedication to accuracy.
