Job description

About The Role

Standard Capital is seeking a skilled Video Producer to establish and manage its video content operations for the Dalton + Michael and Standard Capital YouTube channels. The goal is to build a robust video production system without compromising the authentic, founder-focused nature of the content. This role involves close collaboration with Dalton Caldwell to oversee the entire video production lifecycle, including content planning, coordinating shoots, managing external production resources, and ensuring consistent, high-quality video releases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Dalton + Michael series' direct, honest, and practical approach.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the content calendar for both Dalton + Michael and Standard Capital video platforms.
  • Organize and coordinate weekly in-person filming sessions at the company's private studio in Palo Alto.
  • Collaborate directly with Dalton Caldwell on video priorities, content ideas, publishing schedules, and overall content strategy.
  • Oversee and manage freelance editors, designers, and other production personnel.
  • Translate creative concepts into detailed briefs, project timelines, and specific deliverables.
  • Monitor videos through all production phases: ideation, filming, editing, review, final packaging, publication, and post-release analysis.
  • Provide constructive feedback to editors on video cuts.
  • Maintain an organized production workflow to ensure timely and consistent video releases.
  • Analyze content performance metrics, identify successful elements, and strive to enhance video quality and audience engagement.
  • Develop efficient systems for repurposing long-form content into engaging short clips and social media assets.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience in producing YouTube videos, podcasts, interview-style shows, founder-focused content, or similar digital video formats.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working closely with senior leadership, translating high-level direction into actionable execution.
  • In-depth knowledge of the YouTube platform, including best practices for titles, thumbnails, audience retention, clip creation, Shorts, and publishing strategies.
  • Strong editorial judgment to assess video pacing, engagement, and tone.
  • Familiarity with the specific tone and style of the Dalton + Michael show.
  • A genuine interest in startups, entrepreneurship, AI, and venture capital.
  • Willingness to be present in Palo Alto for weekly filming sessions.
  • A low-ego, detail-oriented, and reliable professional with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to manage creative processes effectively and prevent project stagnation.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will recognize that the value of the Dalton + Michael content lies in its insightful advice rather than high production gloss. Your role will be to maintain this core value while elevating the consistency, quality, and scalability of the video production. This includes managing external talent, optimizing workflows, keeping the content schedule on track, and contributing to strategic decisions regarding content creation, packaging, and distribution.

Nice to Have

  • Experience managing a YouTube channel with a consistent publishing schedule.
  • Background in producing content related to startups, technology, investing, or founders.
  • Experience coordinating freelance editors, thumbnail artists, or social media video teams.
  • Proficiency with YouTube Studio analytics.
  • A keen eye for effective titles, thumbnails, and short-form video content.
  • Familiarity with production and editing software such as Riverside, Descript, Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci, Frame.io, Figma, or similar tools.
  • Experience in developing and implementing content operations systems.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit the following:

  • A current resume or LinkedIn profile.
  • Portfolio showcasing video channels, shows, or projects you have produced.
  • A brief statement detailing your familiarity with the Dalton + Michael content.
  • An analysis of one Dalton + Michael video you find effective, explaining why.
  • A specific suggestion for enhancing the packaging, clip strategy, or production workflow for the channel.
