Job description

Overview

The Video Director will help shape the Sunday worship experience by setting the creative direction for video storytelling, live moments, and visual content. The role is centered on producing work that connects with people, strengthens engagement, and clearly communicates the church’s mission.

This position combines creative leadership with hands-on production responsibility. The successful candidate will generate ideas, guide production teams, and deliver polished content and experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Own the creative vision and end-to-end delivery of video projects, from idea development through final output.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director, Programming Director, and broader programming team to craft strong visual stories for weekend services, series, and campaigns.
  • Lead video shoots and provide direction on lighting, camera work, framing, and set coordination.
  • Plan pre-production details such as scripts, storyboards, locations, casting, schedules, and logistics.
  • Oversee post-production work, including editing, color correction, and sound design, to maintain a high standard of quality.
  • Create and protect visual standards that support the church’s brand and storytelling approach.
  • Partner with producers, editors, designers, audio teams, production staff, and other creatives to complete projects efficiently and well.
  • Help develop interns, apprentices, and volunteers by creating opportunities for learning and ownership.
  • Handle several projects at once in a deadline-driven, fast-moving setting.
  • Assist with live events and special productions when needed.
  • Stay informed about storytelling trends, film methods, and cultural moments so content remains current and engaging.

Requirements

  • Active involvement in a church community, including a lifestyle that reflects inviting others, serving, generosity, and valuing community.
  • At least 5-6+ years of experience in creative direction, film direction, or video production.
  • Strong interest in storytelling and using video to communicate transformation and impact.
  • Demonstrated experience directing productions on set with talent and crew in an agency, freelance, church, or media environment.
  • Solid knowledge of camera systems, lighting, and production workflows.
  • Working proficiency with post-production tools and workflows, including Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and review platforms such as Frame.io or Dropbox Replay.
  • Ability to guide creative teams and deliver clear, constructive direction.
  • Strong planning, organization, and project management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working under pressure and adapting quickly in a changing environment.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or ministry setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of live production and broadcast environments is a plus.
  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, or AI-assisted creative tools is a plus, including Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Cinema 4D or Blender, and Runway.
  • Familiarity with social and digital content strategy is a plus.

Work Schedule

This is a Sunday through Thursday role. The office schedule runs Monday to Thursday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. On Sundays, the team supports the weekend worship experience directly in role or through a weekly serving opportunity at one of the church’s campuses.

The environment is fast paced, and priorities may change quickly to meet weekend needs, so adaptability is important. The culture is also highly collaborative and creative, with opportunities for both structured and informal professional growth.

Team members are expected to maintain disciplined spiritual practices, including regular Bible reading, prayer, reflection on the weekly sermon, and applying it in daily life. Candidates should be ready to contribute fully to projects, conversations, and initiatives.

Benefits

  • Full medical coverage paid entirely by the employer for full-time staff.
  • 403b retirement plan with a 4% employer match.
  • Dental and vision coverage.
  • Paid time off for rest, vacations, and personal life.
  • Subsidized counseling support with 6 sessions per year.
  • Basic life insurance coverage for the employee, spouse, and children.

Additional Information
