Overview

This part-time remote role is dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by alcohol and drug-impaired driving incidents. The Victim Services Specialist provides compassionate crisis intervention, advocacy, grief support, and links survivors to vital resources. Managing a caseload independently, the specialist assists victims in navigating emotional, legal, medical, and community support frameworks. Collaboration with victim service teams and external partners is essential, alongside contributions to outreach programs and volunteer coordination to enhance community support accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform individualized assessments to identify victims' emotional and practical needs, delivering crisis intervention, tailored referrals, and sustained support.
  • Create and execute case management plans involving grief counseling, support groups, and essential assistance.
  • Advocate for victims by clarifying their rights and guiding them through legal, financial, and medical procedures.
  • Accompany victims to court and provide ongoing support during legal proceedings.
  • Conduct community needs assessments to identify resource gaps and develop outreach efforts to improve service availability.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with legal, healthcare, and social service agencies to fortify victim support networks.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers tied to victim service initiatives.
  • Maintain confidential, accurate case documentation and statistical records in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Work closely with internal teams to offer consultation and additional resources for complex cases.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or a related human services field preferred; equivalent professional experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, or grief support is also considered.
  • Proficient knowledge of trauma-informed care and the ability to assist individuals in crisis with compassion.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear information exchange and trust-building.
  • Strong organizational talents to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and retain meticulous records.
  • Self-sufficient working style combined with effective collaboration skills for teamwork and external partnerships.
  • Reliable transportation and availability to attend court and community engagements as required.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, online databases, and record-keeping systems.
  • Devotion to confidentiality, ethical conduct, accountability, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Passionate about victim support and fostering safer communities through advocacy and awareness.
