A fast-scaling aerospace and defense manufacturer and systems integrator is expanding its operations. The business supports several production sites with capabilities that include aircraft manufacturing, munitions systems integration, ISR technologies, laser systems, missile guidance, specialized fabrication, and FAA Part 145 repair services.

Role Overview

This newly established executive role offers the chance to create a high-performing supply chain function from the ground up. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, the Vice President of Supply Chain Operations will be responsible for assembling the team, defining the operating model, and putting the systems, processes, and compliance controls in place to support rapid growth across multiple manufacturing locations and defense-focused businesses.

As acquisitions are integrated and Epicor ERP is implemented, the organization is seeking a leader who has thrived in both entrepreneurial environments and large defense contracting settings. The goal is to build a supply chain foundation that can scale, meet government requirements, and still move with the speed needed in a growing business.

Success in this position means establishing a supply chain organization that is efficient, resilient, audit-ready, and aligned with the mission of delivering critical capabilities to the U.S. military and allied customers.

Core Responsibilities

Government compliance, supplier management, operational planning, and risk mitigation will be central to the role. The leader will also be expected to drive continuous improvement and build continuity plans that protect delivery commitments under challenging conditions.

Government Compliance and Certified Systems

• Design and deploy a compliant Government Property Management system that meets FAR Part 45 and DFARS 245 requirements, including receipt, identification, recordkeeping, utilization, and disposition for GFP and CAP.
• Direct preparation for CPSR, GPAR, and other government system audits and reviews.
• Stay current on ITAR, EAR, and export control obligations as they affect supply chain operations.

Procurement and Supplier Management

• Create and run a supplier qualification, performance, and development program across a distributed supply base.
• Ensure compliance with small business subcontracting requirements, including developing subcontracting plans when needed.

Operations and Continuous Improvement

• Set up inventory control, demand planning, and materials management practices across all manufacturing facilities.
• Use Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methods to improve lead times, lower costs, and reduce supply chain exposure.

Risk Management

• Assess and reduce supply chain risks such as single-source reliance, geopolitical exposure, supplier financial instability, counterfeit components, and long lead-time constraints.
• Build and maintain a business continuity plan that supports delivery obligations to the U.S. Government during disruptive situations.

Compensation and Logistics

The base salary is approximately $250,000 plus MIP. The position is on-site in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and strongly preferred to be based there. Travel may reach up to 50% across Texas, Arizona, Maryland, and Idaho. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of progressive experience in supply chain or procurement.
• Minimum 5 years in senior leadership roles overseeing teams and multi-site operations.
• Solid working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and subcontract flow-down obligations.
• Hands-on experience leading an organization through CPSR or a comparable government audit.
• Experience working with DCAA and DCMA, including audit responses.
• Background in aerospace, defense, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment, with familiarity with ITAR and EAR.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% across multiple U.S. locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree such as an MBA or MS in supply chain or operations.
• APICS CSCP, CPSM, or an equivalent professional certification.
• Experience in both smaller defense businesses under $50M and large prime contractors above $500M.
• 15+ years of experience with increasing executive responsibility in defense supply chain leadership.
• Prior exposure to Epicor ERP.
• Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
• Existing relationships within the aerospace and defense supply base, especially in the Southwest and Mid-Atlantic regions.
