About the Role
A top utility infrastructure contractor specializing in overhead and underground electric and gas distribution seeks a seasoned Regional Manager or Vice President to lead operations in the Carolinas region. This organization serves investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, and federal agencies, known for delivering safe and high-quality infrastructure solutions.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the COO, the Vice President will provide strategic and operational leadership across Carolinas operations, managing multiple utility service contracts, driving performance, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and fostering business growth. This role requires close partnership with senior leadership and management of field operations, customer engagement, financial outcomes, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional utility construction operations prioritizing safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Oversee successful delivery of multiple contracts, ensuring adherence to customer and contractual requirements.
- Implement operational enhancements to improve productivity, efficiency, and financial results.
- Guide and mentor regional leaders, field teams, and support staff, cultivating a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and performance for company crews and subcontractors.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with utility clients and industry partners.
- Identify and pursue business development opportunities throughout the Carolinas and adjacent areas.
- Promote a robust safety culture through leadership, training, and quality assurance.
- Administer regional budgets, resources, and operational outcomes to meet organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Over 15 years of leading electric and/or gas utility field operations.
- Proven capability in managing multiple utility construction contracts and customer partnerships.
- Strong leadership in operations, financial oversight, and analytics.
- Experience enhancing performance through process optimization and resource management.
- Demonstrated leadership of internal construction crews and subcontractors.
- History of coaching and developing effective, high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of accountability, collaboration, and organizational culture.
- Technical expertise in utility distribution construction including overhead and underground power distribution, directional drilling, excavation, equipment placement, gas distribution, and journeyman line work.
- Experience in system rehabilitation, overhead-to-underground conversions, and grid hardening initiatives.
- Strong business development skills and established utility industry contacts preferred.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and computer abilities.
- Capacity to independently lead a geographically dispersed business operation.
