This executive role is accountable for the full architecture landscape across infrastructure, platforms, applications, and DevOps, ensuring product squads/trios can design, ship, and scale solutions quickly and independently.
The role calls for a hands-on technology leader who can connect product intent with engineering execution. The goal is to build a secure, scalable, and developer-friendly platform environment that accelerates innovation while preserving reliability, performance, and operational discipline.
Platform and infrastructure strategy
- Shape and own the long-range platform engineering plan in support of the product roadmap and business expansion.
- Direct the design and delivery of essential platform capabilities, including infrastructure, developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and shared services.
- Build a cloud architecture and infrastructure base that is resilient and able to scale.
- Promote contemporary platform engineering approaches such as internal developer platforms, platform-as-a-product, and self-service infrastructure.
Architecture leadership
- Oversee architecture at the enterprise level for applications and platforms.
- Set design standards for systems, microservices, APIs, and data architecture.
- Make sure services and platforms are built for scale, reliability, security, and performance.
- Work with product and engineering leaders to keep architectural decisions aligned across squads.
Product operating model enablement
- Support the product squad/trio model with shared platform services, architecture frameworks, and developer tooling.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, Product Design, and Engineering leaders so teams can move fast without rebuilding core capabilities.
- Ensure teams can use reusable components, APIs, and platform capabilities that speed up delivery.
DevOps and engineering enablement
- Own the DevOps direction, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling that improves engineering productivity.
- Advance developer experience, release throughput, and service reliability.
- Champion observability, monitoring, and incident management practices.
- Foster a culture centered on automation, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement.
Reliability, security, and scalability
- Ensure infrastructure and platform services meet strong expectations for uptime, security, and compliance.
- Partner with security and compliance stakeholders to bake secure-by-design methods into engineering.
- Establish and sustain SRE and operational excellence practices.
Leadership expectations
This leader is expected to think strategically, take ownership of end-to-end delivery, build strong teams, focus on enterprise customer outcomes, encourage innovation, make sound technical decisions, communicate clearly with executive stakeholders, and drive delivery across complex cloud and platform ecosystems.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering and platform/infrastructure leadership, including responsibility for large engineering or platform organizations.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, and modern product operating models.
- Strong technical depth in cloud platforms, microservices, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, DevOps/SRE, container orchestration, observability, and API/service architecture.
- Ability to translate business objectives into technical direction and align multiple stakeholders.
- Track record of building high-performing engineering teams and improving developer productivity in fast-moving environments.
Preferred experience
- Background with SaaS or large-scale digital platforms, internal developer platforms, and modernization of legacy systems into cloud-native architectures.
- Exposure to product-led development and agile squad-based operating models.
