Job description
About the company
Verra Mobility is a worldwide smart-mobility business that builds technology-led solutions to improve safety and convenience in transport. The company supports police departments and local councils across North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe by deploying safety camera systems such as red-light, speed, and school bus stop arm cameras. It also handles tolling transactions and violations for major commercial fleets and rental car operators, supporting more than 8.5 million vehicles and processing nearly 165 million transactions annually for over 50 tolling authorities through its connected systems.
The organization is growing quickly and is guided by four core values: doing the right thing, choosing courage over comfort, winning together, and taking ownership in every interaction with customers and team members.
Role overview
Because of continued growth and increasing client support needs across the region, Verra Mobility is hiring an experienced full-time Field Services Technician to work from the Minto office while covering regional New South Wales.
This position is central to the installation, upkeep, and monitoring of advanced road safety systems, including fixed and mobile speed camera technology across Greater NSW. It is a practical, highly mobile role that combines hands-on mechanical work with technical troubleshooting in software and networking. Work may take place at heights, outdoors, and across varied environments, and the role directly supports the performance of safety technology that helps protect communities across the state.
Working arrangements
This is a permanent full-time position based in Minto. The roster covers weekdays and may also include occasional weekends, public holidays, and irregular after-hours field work. Office time will also be required for compliance and reporting tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out installation, commissioning, and both preventative and corrective maintenance for road safety systems throughout metro Sydney and regional NSW.
- Provide support for a variety of technical IT solutions and resolve challenging issues while out in the field.
- Set up, configure, and diagnose hardware components and software.
- Keep records, documentation, and reports accurate and up to date so compliance requirements are met.
- Take part in weekly team improvement activities and help drive better ways of working.
- Work with a strong focus on safety at all times.
Requirements
- Practical experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex hardware and software systems in field environments.
- Solid knowledge of network setup, including LAN/WAN, cabling, and equipment installation.
- Exposure to bespoke or internally developed technology platforms is considered an advantage.
- Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform accreditation is preferred.
- A Construction Safety Card is preferred.
- A current, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence is required.
Who can apply
Applicants should be curious, technically capable across both hardware and software, and comfortable solving problems independently in the field. The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes a professional approach with customers, and is willing to travel frequently across Greater NSW, including remote locations.
What’s offered
The package includes a competitive salary, overtime and allowances, and a fully maintained company vehicle for both work and commuting. Ongoing training, skill development, and career growth opportunities are also provided within a business known for leadership in road safety technology.
Values and culture
Successful candidates should align with the company’s values of accountability and ownership, integrity and good judgment, courageous decision-making, and collaborative teamwork that respects differences and supports development.
Diversity and equal opportunity
Verra Mobility welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourages First Nations people, LGBTQIA+ candidates, women, people of all ages, people with disability, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities to apply. The company aims to build a workforce that reflects the communities it serves. It is also an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants without discrimination based on race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or protected veteran status.
