Job description
Role overview
BNY is hiring a Vice President, Product Owner to join the Trustee & Depositary team within Asset Servicing in Dublin. The role sits in a global financial services environment focused on modernisation, client impact, and the use of advanced technology to improve outcomes.
As part of this position, you will help shape priorities and delivery for the Asset Safekeeping product set, working closely with product, technology, operations, and scrum teams to move initiatives from idea to execution.
What you will do
- Partner with the Senior Product Owner to define priorities, delivery direction, and expected outcomes for the product set.
- Coordinate with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to deliver future-state capabilities and ongoing enhancements.
- Handle day-to-day product ownership tasks such as refining user stories, managing backlog items, and giving clear guidance to Scrum teams.
- Help define and improve product requirements by combining stakeholder input, team feedback, and data-driven insight.
- Track business, operational, and product trends to support prioritisation and identify risks, gaps, and opportunities early.
- Use delivery and performance metrics to strengthen product outcomes and improve the way the team works.
- Work across product groups to keep delivery aligned, manage dependencies, and resolve conflicting priorities.
- Influence stakeholders without relying on formal authority and help remove obstacles to keep work moving forward.
- Support less experienced colleagues and encourage practical, responsible use of tools, automation, and AI to improve efficiency and control.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role, ideally in agile and cross-functional settings.
- Strong practical experience in requirements gathering, backlog management, prioritisation, and working closely with Scrum teams.
- Ability to build alignment, influence decisions, and collaborate effectively with peers and stakeholders.
- Experience acting as a subject matter expert in complex transformation or delivery programmes, offering practical challenge and solutions.
- Comfort handling ambiguity, shifting priorities, and multi-threaded problem solving.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics for better decision-making.
- A growth-minded approach and interest in using tools and AI to improve delivery.
- Background in financial services or another regulated industry, with preference for custody, depositary, or fund oversight work.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, or a related field.
