Role Overview
The Vice President of Private Banking Sales will spearhead relationship management with Ultra High Net Worth individuals (UHNW), including elite clients such as members of the ruling family and government officials. Acting as a comprehensive solution provider, the role involves delivering tailored private banking services spanning banking, investments, fiduciary, and lending. Collaboration with domestic private bankers to generate client referrals is also expected.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess clients' financial profiles and work with the Asset Management team to design investment strategies aligned with individual risk appetites and financial statements.
- Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans aiming to meet volume, revenue, and profitability targets in the UHNW private banking segment.
- Define and uphold key performance indicators (KPIs) and best practices relevant to the VP Private Banking Sales position.
- Encourage cost-efficiency and productivity enhancement to optimize bank benefits while minimizing waste.
- Operate within delegated authority levels while overseeing related staff responsibilities.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the bank's financial and operational performance drivers.
- Lead and inspire the private banking team to reach business objectives while delivering exceptional client service, including managing the most complex client relationships.
- Proactively develop and sustain strong, enduring client relationships, evaluating investment goals, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, return expectations, and timelines; coordinate with Asset Management to execute and monitor investment portfolios comprising equities, bonds, real estate, alternatives, and structured products on advisory or discretionary bases.
- Drive client responsiveness initiatives, fostering a referral-rich environment across private banking services such as lending, fiduciary, and yacht financing.
- Serve as the single point of contact for all private banking services for UHNW clients, efficiently resolving complaints per company policies.
- Assist in formulating Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments to prioritize servicing of Private Banking clients, thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Foster and maintain cross-departmental relationships to ensure expedited handling of client requests and operational issues.
- Provide timely and accurate data to auditors and compliance teams regarding UHNW clients.
- Assist clients with inquiries regarding bank and investment products and seek effective solutions.
- Adhere to SLAs with internal units to improve turnaround times.
- Offer insights into development of competitive product offerings to attract and retain valuable clients, enhancing market share and profitability.
- Collaborate on marketing strategies with senior leaders and marketing units to promote department products and services.
- Stay informed on private banking business operations, risks, and market developments; proactively pursue ongoing professional growth.
- Comply meticulously with all regulatory, compliance, and internal policy requirements including AML, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistleblowing, and conflict of interest policies.
- Implement the Three Lines of Defence framework by identifying, measuring, monitoring, managing, and reporting risks effectively.
- Ensure compliance with Conduct Risk policies to consistently secure positive client outcomes.
- Support operational risk management initiatives such as RCSA, KRI, incident reporting, and remediation.
- Maintain confidentiality and high data protection standards for sensitive client and bank information, sharing only as necessary with senior management, audit, compliance, and regulators.
- Uphold the bank’s professional integrity and market reputation through exemplary conduct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- A university degree, preferably in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Completion of the CISI Level 4 Certificate in International Advanced Wealth Management or an equivalent qualification.
- Successful completion of CFA Level 1; CFA charterholder status is highly advantageous.
- Minimum of 12 years of client-facing experience in financial services, specialized in managing UHNW customer accounts and relationships.
- At least three years of experience within the local market context, with thorough knowledge of competitive practices, market structure, and private banking regulations.
- Proven track record of successfully acquiring and maintaining significant new business relationships.
