Role Overview

Archer Review is hiring a Vice President, People to lead the People function through its next phase of growth. This leader will act as a key advisor to the CEO, CFO, and executive team, helping shape decisions around organizational design, talent, leadership capability, workforce planning, culture, and operating priorities.

This is a highly hands-on leadership role suited to a builder who can define the long-term People strategy while also strengthening core operating fundamentals. The person in this role will establish scalable systems, processes, and routines that improve talent quality, manager effectiveness, employee engagement, organizational clarity, compliance, and execution across the business.

Location

This role is currently fully remote, with the possibility of future in-office expectations. Candidates should be based in the Austin, Texas area or Northern Virginia, as the company plans to open an office in one of those regions later.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position is between USD 185,000 and 200,000, and there is bonus potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a People strategy that supports company growth goals, financial targets, operating structure, and culture.
  • Advise the CEO, CFO, and leadership team on organization design, talent decisions, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, and complex employee matters.
  • Set up a clear People operating model with defined responsibilities, expectations, and regular operating cadences for executives and business leaders.
  • Lead workforce planning and hiring governance by managing headcount planning, role prioritization, hiring visibility, manager accountability, and budget alignment.
  • Own talent acquisition strategy, including recruiting processes, employer branding, candidate experience, offer planning, and retention of important talent.
  • Oversee HR operations such as benefits, HRIS, employee lifecycle administration, employee data quality, and vendor relationships.
  • Build and expand performance management practices, including goal setting, review cycles, feedback systems, documentation standards, and accountability processes.
  • Improve manager effectiveness through coaching, enablement tools, communication routines, and clear leadership expectations.
  • Lead compensation and total rewards strategy with Finance, covering compensation philosophy, job architecture, salary structures, benefits, pay equity, and reward governance.
  • Strengthen employee engagement and culture by collecting insights, identifying trends, improving communication feedback loops, and ensuring leadership follow-through.
  • Promote an inclusive, high-accountability culture built on trust, empathy, feedback, continuous learning, and strong business results.
  • Handle sensitive workplace issues with good judgment, discretion, empathy, and a strong grasp of legal and employee relations practices.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, documentation standards, and risk controls across a distributed multi-state workforce.
  • Partner with Finance and executive leadership to align People decisions with business performance, budget discipline, resource allocation, and long-term growth.
  • Develop the People infrastructure needed for the company’s next growth stage, including frameworks and processes for mergers, acquisitions, and integration work.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring deep senior-level People or HR leadership experience, with a track record of partnering closely with executive teams and engaging with a board.

Experience building or scaling People functions in a growth-stage, private equity-backed company is important. The role also requires strong experience advising CEOs, CFOs, and senior leaders on workforce planning, organizational design, leadership effectiveness, and difficult people decisions.

Strong knowledge of People operations is essential, including performance management, recruiting, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and people technology.

Experience leading the People strategy for fully remote teams is also required, along with excellent communication, judgment, discretion, and executive influence.

Bonus Experience

Additional value will be given to candidates with experience in ed-tech, healthcare, or test preparation environments, as well as those who have led People workstreams for mergers, acquisitions, or integration efforts.
