Role overview
Archer Review is hiring a Vice President, People to lead its people strategy and execution as the company enters its next phase of growth. This role will partner closely with the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership team to support data-driven decisions around organization design, workforce planning, talent, leadership effectiveness, culture, and operating priorities.
This is a highly hands-on leadership position suited to a builder who can shape the long-term People agenda while also making sure core HR operations remain solid. The person in this role will design scalable systems, workflows, and cadences that strengthen talent quality, manager capability, employee engagement, organizational clarity, compliance, and overall business execution.
Location
This role is fully remote at present, with the possibility of future in-office work. Candidates should be based in the Austin, Texas, or Northern Virginia areas, as the company plans to open an office in one of those locations later on.
Compensation
The annual base pay for this position is between 185,000 and 200,000 USD, and there is also bonus potential.
Key responsibilities
- Create and implement a people strategy that supports company growth goals, financial targets, operating structure, and culture.
- Advise the CEO, CFO, and executive team on org design, hiring and talent decisions, leadership effectiveness, workforce planning, and confidential employee matters.
- Build a clear people operating model with well-defined responsibilities, expectations, and recurring business rhythms for executives and team leaders.
- Lead workforce planning and hiring governance, including headcount planning, role prioritization, funnel visibility, hiring-manager accountability, and budget alignment.
- Own recruiting strategy across the company, including hiring processes, employer brand, candidate experience, offer approach, and retention of key employees.
- Manage core People operations such as benefits, HRIS, employee lifecycle workflows, employee data quality, and vendor relationships.
- Develop and expand performance management practices covering goal setting, review cycles, feedback systems, documentation standards, and accountability.
- Improve manager effectiveness through practical tools, coaching, enablement, communication cadences, and clear expectations for team leadership.
- Lead compensation and total rewards planning with Finance, including compensation philosophy, job architecture, salary bands, benefits design, pay equity, and rewards governance.
- Strengthen employee engagement and culture by collecting useful feedback, identifying patterns, improving communication, and ensuring leadership acts on insights.
- Promote an inclusive, high-accountability culture built on trust, empathy, feedback, continuous learning, and strong execution.
- Handle sensitive workplace issues with sound judgment, discretion, empathy, and strong knowledge of legal and employee relations best practices.
- Ensure the company follows employment laws, compliance rules, documentation standards, and risk controls across a distributed multi-state workforce.
- Work with Finance and executive leadership to link people decisions to business results, resource allocation, budget discipline, and long-range growth planning.
- Create the people infrastructure needed for the next stage of growth, including frameworks and processes for mergers, acquisitions, and integration.
What the company is looking for
- Substantial senior-level experience in People or HR leadership, including close partnership with executive teams and exposure to board-level conversations.
- Background in building or scaling People functions within a growth-stage, private equity-backed business.
- Proven ability to work with CEOs, CFOs, and other executives on workforce planning, organization design, leadership effectiveness, and delicate people decisions.
- Strong understanding of core People operations, including performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, compliance, and people technology.
- Experience leading People strategy for fully remote organizations.
- Excellent communication, judgment, discretion, and executive influence.
Bonus experience
- Prior work in ed-tech, healthcare, or test prep environments.
- Experience leading the people side of mergers, acquisitions, or integration efforts.
