Job Overview
The Vice President of Strategic Investments plays a pivotal executive role responsible for guiding strategic investments, capital allocation, and fostering business expansion. Accountable for strategic investment planning, evaluating opportunities, capital operations, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), as well as portfolio management, this role typically reports to senior leadership such as the CEO, CSO, CFO, CIO, or Board of Directors. By analyzing industry trends, identifying strategic prospects, devising investment strategies, and driving M&A initiatives, the VP facilitates business growth, strengthens industry positioning, and enhances long-term value.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement medium- to long-term and annual strategic investment plans aligned with company goals.
- Define investment priorities and create frameworks, standards, and decision-making processes for investments.
- Conduct industry research, market and competitive analyses to identify viable investment opportunities matching company strategy.
- Lead merger, acquisition, strategic investment, and equity partnership projects including transaction structuring, due diligence, and negotiations.
- Develop and maintain investment analysis models to assess ROI, IRR, cash flow, and risks, preparing detailed recommendation reports for management.
- Foster strategic alliances, joint ventures, and industry collaborations to build a robust investment ecosystem.
- Oversee strategic investment portfolio performance monitoring, exit strategies, and portfolio adjustments to maximize value.
- Implement risk assessment, control mechanisms, and compliance for investments, ensuring sound governance and capital protection.
- Collaborate across departments including finance, legal, business, and operations to facilitate investment execution, resource integration, and synergy realization.
- Build and develop a high-caliber strategic investment team, cultivating strong investment management and analytical capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, investment management, business administration, financial management, or related disciplines.
- Advanced credentials like MBA, Master of Finance, CFA, CPA, or equivalent are preferred.
- At least 20 years in strategic investment, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or capital operations.
- 8-15 years in senior leadership roles such as VP of Strategic Investments, Investment Director, or Corporate Development Director.
- Experience working with large enterprises, investment firms, multinational corporations, or industrial groups, including involvement in mergers and acquisitions, equity investments, strategic partnerships, or corporate expansion.
