About the role
This leadership position is responsible for guiding the enterprise Project Management Office (PMO) and ensuring that strategic programs are executed successfully across the organization. Reporting to executive leadership, the role focuses on governance, portfolio oversight, operational excellence, and coordination across functions so that initiatives are completed on schedule, within budget, and in line with business goals.
The company is looking for a senior executive with deep experience in enterprise project management, organizational change, and leading strong teams in demanding, fast-moving environments.
Enterprise project strategy
- Create and roll out an organization-wide project management strategy.
- Set up and maintain PMO governance structures, delivery methods, and operating standards.
- Make sure project portfolios support business priorities, long-term goals, and company strategy.
- Work with senior leaders to rank initiatives, distribute resources, and manage capacity.
- Guide strategic delivery across multiple departments and business areas.
Portfolio and program management
- Lead a portfolio of enterprise projects and cross-functional strategic programs.
- Ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality level.
- Track scope, milestones, budgets, resource usage, interdependencies, and overall project status.
- Prepare executive dashboards, portfolio updates, and performance reporting for leadership.
- Run governance forums, steering meetings, and executive project reviews.
Governance and risk management
- Build project governance models, policy controls, and compliance standards.
- Spot risks, operational issues, and resource bottlenecks early.
- Design mitigation actions and manage issue escalation paths.
- Maintain adherence to internal rules, contractual commitments, and regulatory obligations.
- Encourage proactive risk control throughout the project lifecycle.
Operational excellence
- Standardize project management processes, documentation, and reporting practices.
- Introduce continuous improvement efforts that raise delivery efficiency.
- Define KPIs to assess project outcomes, operational performance, and business value.
- Improve project tools, workflows, and organizational processes.
- Advance the maturity of enterprise-wide project management.
Cross-functional leadership
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, IT, Operations, Finance, HR, Sales, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Support.
- Enable clear communication and alignment among executive stakeholders.
- Support digital transformation and large-scale change initiatives.
- Advise executive leadership on priorities and execution approach.
Leadership and talent development
- Lead, mentor, and develop teams of Project Managers, Program Managers, PMO Managers, and Business Analysts.
- Build coaching, leadership development, and succession planning programs.
- Create a culture centered on accountability, teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Attract, hire, and retain high-quality project management talent while preparing future leaders.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is required.
- An MBA or master’s degree is preferred.
- Applicants should bring 20+ years of progressive experience in project management, program management, or business operations.
- At least 10+ years of senior or executive leadership experience overseeing enterprise PMOs and large project portfolios is expected.
- Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and transformation programs is required.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management, governance frameworks, budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning is necessary.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities are essential.
- Strong analytical thinking, strategic planning, and sound decision-making skills are required.
