Role Overview
The Vice President of Procurement will spearhead the global sourcing and purchasing functions with strategic oversight of an annual spend estimated between $1 billion and $1.5 billion. This leadership role focuses on optimizing supplier relationships, implementing cost reduction strategies, and ensuring resilient supply chains aligned with corporate fiscal objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive long-term sourcing strategies covering both direct and indirect spending areas.
- Set and monitor stringent vendor performance metrics (KPIs) to assess capacity, quality, and risk factors.
- Lead negotiations on major contracts to drive profitability and realize substantial cost savings.
- Establish diversified and robust supply networks that mitigate risks from geopolitical and market uncertainties.
- Guide, develop, and expand a centralized procurement and category management team to achieve high performance.
- Champion the use of advanced technologies including digital procurement tools, automation, artificial intelligence, and sophisticated spend analytics.
- Work collaboratively with executive leadership including CFO, COO, and business units to align procurement strategies with business growth initiatives.
- Ensure procurement activities comply fully with global trade laws, ethical sourcing standards, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
Desired Knowledge and Skills
- Superior negotiation abilities and strong relationship management at the executive level.
- Extensive understanding of total cost of ownership (TCO) principles.
- Expertise in global trade regulations, tariffs, and economic factors impacting supply chains.
- Proficient financial insight, including corporate balance sheet awareness.
- Successful collaboration across functional departments within complex matrix organizations.
- Strong orientation towards execution excellence and accountability.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; MBA or master's degree is highly advantageous.
- At least 12 to 15 years of procurement or supply chain experience with a minimum of 5 years in senior executive roles.
- Demonstrated success in managing combined direct and indirect expenditures exceeding $500 million in a multi-billion-dollar enterprise environment.
Certifications
- Professional credentials such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), or MCIPS (Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are highly valued.
