About the Opportunity

A private group specializing in construction supplies seeks an experienced Vice President to guide operational excellence across its concrete accessories and flooring distribution operations in British Columbia. This executive role was created to enhance operational leadership with a focus on consistency, accountability, and structure across multiple warehouse and distribution centers. Reporting directly to the President and Owner and collaborating with the General Manager (sales lead), the VP will ensure disciplined operations to support upcoming growth phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and coaching to the General Manager and Operations Managers, establishing clear role expectations and promptly managing performance issues to develop a culture rooted in accountability and proactive performance management.
  • Manage daily operations across various locations including the Lower Mainland and Central Okanagan, encompassing procurement, inventory control, and cycle counting.
  • Lead and champion safety initiatives ensuring full compliance with WorkSafeBC guidelines and consistent implementation of safety programs, training, and reporting.
  • Direct the deployment of a new POS/WMS system across all sites, including creation of SOPs, training programs, and managing organizational change to facilitate smooth adoption.
  • Develop and standardize operating procedures to enhance consistency, efficiency, and scalability as the company expands.
  • Collaborate closely with HR to assist in policy creation, recruitment, performance reviews, and employee training initiatives company-wide.
  • Work alongside sales leadership to align operational capabilities with sales objectives, ensuring proper inventory levels and service performance.
  • Apply strategic operational perspectives to future expansion plans, assessing and standardizing processes for new warehouse locations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, industrial, or construction materials sectors.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of warehouse operations covering procurement, inventory management, cycle and year-end counts, and SOP formulation, similar to managing multi-site operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor multi-site operations teams and handle direct performance management discussions steadfastly.
  • Comprehensive understanding of workplace safety standards including WorkSafeBC and JOHSC, with experience developing safety programs.
  • Experience in leading or significantly contributing to POS/WMS or ERP system implementations, including training and change management.
  • Strong communication skills with the capacity to clearly set expectations and provide forward-thinking feedback.
  • Strategic mindset capable of balancing daily operational demands with growth planning.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license and readiness for regular travel between provincial locations.
