Vice President of Government Affairs

Role Overview

Hexium is moving from development to commercial deployment and requires strong federal partnerships to accelerate this transition, secure strategic investments, and support technology deployment. The Vice President of Government Affairs will lead federal engagement efforts, working closely with the CEO and executive team to cultivate relationships with key federal agencies and Congress, while advancing strategic funding opportunities aligned with Hexium's long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement the company's federal engagement strategy in partnership with executive leadership.
• Establish and maintain senior-level connections across DOE, NNSA, NRC, Congress, national labs, and other pivotal federal partners.
• Act as Hexium's representative in government meetings, briefings, and industry events.
• Track and interpret federal policy, legislative, and regulatory changes to inform strategic decision-making.
• Lead negotiations, execution, and oversight of strategic federal agreements and non-dilutive funding arrangements that support technology and infrastructure goals while safeguarding company interests.
• Serve as the executive lead for government program relationships, collaborating with internal teams including technical, legal, regulatory, and finance.

Required Qualifications

• At least 10 years’ experience in federal government affairs, relations, partnerships, policy, or similar senior roles.
• Proven established networks within DOE, NNSA, Congress, national labs, or other nuclear-related federal entities.
• Direct experience with the nuclear fuel cycle or advanced nuclear technologies.
• Expertise in negotiating and managing strategic agreements with federal agencies and complex government partnerships.
• In-depth knowledge of federal funding methods such as grants, cooperative agreements, loan programs, and non-dilutive funding.
• Capacity to clearly articulate complex scientific or technical concepts to senior government officials and executive leaders.
• Bachelor’s degree requirement.
• Eligibility and ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance, with adherence to export-control regulations given access to classified and export-controlled information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous employment experience at DOE, NNSA, or Capitol Hill.
• Experience leading negotiation of DOE-related partnership agreements: OTAs, CRADAs, SPPs, or similar.
• Familiarity with DOE Loan Programs Office loan guarantees or related federal financing initiatives.
• Existing DOE or Department of Defense security clearance.
• Advanced degree in public policy, law, business, or related disciplines.

Work Environment

Frequent travel to Washington, DC is necessary for meetings with federal agencies and congressional stakeholders.
