Overview
We are seeking a Vice President of Business Development to steer and implement the organization’s growth plans through strategic external partnerships involving technical products across regulated and unregulated sectors. This senior leader’s role is pivotal in spotting, assessing, negotiating, and closing significant partnerships, licensing deals, and alliances to broaden the company's platform reach, boost revenue, and unlock new markets. The position demands strong relationship management with various industry stakeholders including OEMs, distributors, and innovators to expand technology into complementary markets and enhance enterprise value with scalable partnership models.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement growth objectives across diverse markets.
- Lead development, negotiation, and closure of licenses, OEM collaborations, co-development projects, and technology transfers spanning various industries.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with manufacturers, distributors, research entities, and channel partners in both regulated and non-regulated sectors.
- Facilitate market entry and product application expansion by harnessing external collaborations to apply core technology in new industry verticals.
- Maintain and oversee a varied pipeline of strategic ventures such as distribution growth, platform licensing, and sector-focused partnerships.
- Conduct market research, competitive evaluations, and financial diligence to appraise strategic compatibility, scalability, and profit prospects across industries.
- Work closely with R&D, engineering, and product departments to identify synergistic external innovations and prioritize their integration into the company portfolio.
- Act as the principal negotiator for high-value, intricate deals including licensing contracts, joint ventures, and alliances.
- Collaborate with legal, financial, regulatory, clinical, and operational teams to ensure deals comply with diverse regulatory requirements and are financially viable.
- Drive revenue expansion through partnership-based commercialization frameworks such as OEM channels, distribution networks, and co-branded products.
- Build and lead a robust partnerships team skilled in supporting growth across multiple industries and scaling collaborative initiatives.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- More than 10 years of senior experience in business development, strategic partnerships, licensing, or corporate development with technical products across multiple industries.
- Proven track record in structuring and closing sophisticated licensing deals, OEM partnerships, and multi-industry commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with both regulated (medical/dental) and non-regulated (industrial) market environments is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercialization approaches, channel strategies, and partnership frameworks across sectors.
- Skilled in assessing and converting technical innovations into scalable business opportunities.
- Strong financial expertise including deal valuation, return on investment analysis, and strategic growth planning.
- Executive presence combined with excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Capability to function effectively within a cross-functional matrixed organizational structure and influence senior leaders.
- Entrepreneurial approach emphasizing scalable, repeatable partnership frameworks that enhance enterprise value.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related discipline is required.
- MBA or other advanced degrees are preferred.
