Role Overview
The VP of Finance will elevate Burq’s financial and operational systems beyond their current foundation to become a strategic driver of the company's next growth phase. This leadership role involves ownership of financial planning, capital allocation, revenue growth strategies, and operational management. The VP will act as a crucial partner to the founding team, capable of hands-on financial modeling as well as presenting to the board, ensuring rigorous financial discipline across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and maintain a dynamic financial model aligned with actual performance.
- Provide continuous insight into cash burn rates, runway, and financial health.
- Implement disciplined capital allocation with clear ROI evaluation for teams and initiatives.
- Produce comprehensive, board-ready financial reports and analyses.
- Design and execute revenue strategies including pricing, packaging, monetization, and expansion.
- Develop and refine marketplace metrics such as take rate, contribution margin, CAC:LTV, net revenue retention, and burn multiple.
- Collaborate with Go-to-Market teams on complex enterprise pricing and revenue forecasting.
- Scale accounting operations including closing, internal controls, and system enhancements for reliability.
- Establish and maintain financial policies, controls, and audit processes.
- Lead preparation for fundraising including financial models, data rooms, and narratives.
- Manage investor and board relations alongside co-founders.
- Oversee cap table management, scenario planning, dilution models, and capital strategies.
- Provide operational leadership across General & Administrative functions including HR and Legal partnerships.
- Develop scalable systems and processes that support company growth.
- Function as a strategic advisor to the founders on broad operational decisions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years experience in finance and operations with senior leadership roles such as VP of Finance, Head of Finance & Operations, or CFO-track, preferably at a high-growth startup.
- Hands-on leader comfortable building financial models and preparing board materials personally before delegating.
- Experience leading or contributing significantly to growth fundraising, including investor and board management.
- Expertise in marketplace/usage-based accounting including revenue recognition, transaction reconciliation, and contractor payments.
- Proven track record in building and scaling FP&A functions and robust finance operations.
- Deep understanding of unit economics and marketplace metrics, and ability to shape revenue strategy.
- Operational experience across HR, Legal, and broader administrative areas.
- Strong accounting knowledge, preferably CPA, with a history of accurate, timely closes and strong internal controls.
- Ability to act as a strategic partner who translates financial insights into impactful company decisions.
- Bonus: Experience in logistics, delivery, supply chain, or operations-heavy marketplaces.
