Vice President of Engineering - Power Management Division

Overview

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is looking for a strategic and transformative Vice President of Engineering for its Power Management Division. This executive role entails leading and expanding the engineering function to support growth in power systems, engineered services, and complex system integration. The ideal leader will set engineering governance, standards, and best practices to achieve technical excellence, operational efficiency, and support larger and more sophisticated customer solutions across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the engineering strategy for Power Management aligned with overall business growth.
• Transition the engineering function from a decentralized to a centralized, standards-driven model enhancing consistency and scalability.
• Create an enterprise-wide scalable engineering framework supporting integrated solutions and multiple divisions.
• Design a multi-year plan for engineering standardization, modular design, and reuse across locations.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure engineering investments align with market opportunities.
• Define and standardize engineering deliverables such as design templates, cost drivers, and technical inputs to assist commercial estimating processes.
• Maintain seamless coordination between Engineering and Commercial teams for bid support and solution development.
• Engage with key customers as a technical expert on complex engineering solutions, enabling IPS to win large-scale system projects ($500K to $10M+).
• Lead technical oversight over medium and high voltage (MV/HV) distribution systems, including switchgear, switchboards, breakers, protection, motor control centers (MCCs), and critical power backup systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and codes like IEEE, NFPA, NEC, NETA, and UL.
• Drive product development initiatives in partnership with Product Management to define and launch modular system solutions including power skids, e-houses, MCC/VFD packages, switchgear, and switchboards.
• Champion innovation focused on cost optimization, reliability enhancement, and integration of digital technologies (automation, monitoring, energy storage).
• Build, develop, and retain a top-performing multi-disciplinary engineering team scalable across regional footprints.
• Implement training, technical standards, career development, performance metrics, and KPIs for continuous improvement.
• Represent IPS at technical forums and industry bodies, protecting intellectual property and supporting enterprise AI, data, and knowledge management initiatives.
• Ensure project execution excellence with attention to quality, on-time delivery, margin protection (via design efficiency), reduced cycle time through standardization, and seamless integration from design through commissioning and service.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering mandatory; Master’s degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in power systems engineering and leadership positions.
• Proven track record building and scaling engineering teams from early-stage to mature and matrixed organizations.
• In-depth expertise with UL891/UL1558 design, power distribution systems, and system integration including HV/MV transformers.
• Experience with integrated control systems, automation, and digital platform technologies.
• Strong commercial acumen with successful alignment of engineering to sales, proposals, and customer engagement.
• Ability to lead complex organizations, develop scalable structures, and operate effectively on strategic and operational levels.
