Overview
The Vice President of Business Operations will be a vital part of the executive leadership team, responsible for executing company strategy internally and managing day-to-day business operations. This role requires oversight of commercial decisions and driving business performance improvements, acting as the connection between finance and operations to ensure commercial insight shapes processes and resource allocation.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role manages central and business functions to guarantee alignment with leadership vision and corporate strategy. The focus areas include optimizing internal operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and refining processes so the MD can prioritize growth and product launches. Additionally, the role holds accountability to the CFO at Newmark for commercial matters, cost control, and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Managing Director to translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans.
- Work closely with Delivery Teams and Core Business units to ensure smooth daily product execution and resolve delivery issues.
- Lead the design and implementation of cross-functional processes to enhance productivity, manage operational risks, and boost efficiency.
- Review financial and commercial proposals on behalf of Newmark within CFO-approved authority limits.
- Oversee development and application of pricing tools and analyses to support pricing strategy execution.
- Direct cost optimization efforts and oversee supplier management strategies.
- Formulate and execute procurement strategies to maximize commercial value.
- Review contracts, service agreements, investments, and procurement decisions collaboratively with business leaders.
- Manage program delivery for both Newmark and Knotel as needed.
- Lead the company's systems strategy by coordinating with Newmark’s technology team to ensure solutions align with business objectives.
- Identify and implement process enhancements that improve efficiency and profit margins, including providing data for product development and sales analysis.
- Supervise financial decisions related to facilities such as maintenance budgets, capital expenditure, and lease commitments with business input.
- Provide leadership and establish policies that cultivate company culture and vision.
- Manage people-related changes and support recruitment efforts following MD approval.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive senior operational leadership background managing multi-site or service-based businesses or serving as operational head for leadership teams or boards.
- Strong commercial insight paired with financial savvy.
- Proven experience overseeing P&L, budgeting, and performance metrics.
- Demonstrated success working closely with finance and executive leadership.
- Experience managing large, cross-functional teams.
- Successful track record in converting executive strategies into operational plans with measurable results.
- Sharp analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred Skills and Background
- Experience in the real estate sector.
- Track record in scaling operational teams during growth phases.
- Familiarity with workspace technology platforms and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Relevant finance certifications.
