Role Overview
The Vice President of Marketing will spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing, communications, and brand management strategies aimed at boosting awareness, visitor engagement, and economic contributions in the Richmond Region. This leadership position involves setting both immediate and future marketing goals, establishing performance metrics, and ensuring synergy with the organization's broader growth plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the organization’s marketing, communications, and branding strategies to elevate destination appeal.
- Define strategic marketing priorities and oversee resource allocation to fulfill organizational objectives.
- Leverage market research, audience analytics, and performance data to guide initiatives and track success.
- Mentor and nurture a high-achieving marketing team through coaching and leadership development.
- Forge and maintain robust relationships with community leaders, businesses, tourism operators, and industry partners.
- Act as the guardian of Richmond Region Tourism’s brand image and reputation.
- Participate actively in executive leadership to influence organizational strategy and decision-making.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related discipline.
- Bring at least 10 years of escalating leadership experience in marketing, communications, tourism, hospitality, economic development, or allied sectors.
- Demonstrate proven ability in leading executives and cultivating dynamic, results-oriented teams.
- Track record of successfully designing and rolling out strategic marketing campaigns with measurable impact.
- Exhibit strong financial acumen including budgeting and fiscal oversight.
- Effective at influencing diverse stakeholders, fostering partnership, and enhancing collaboration.
- Exemplary communication skills paired with strong relationship-building and leadership capabilities.
- Showcase emotional intelligence, prudent judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous growth.
- Experience in destination marketing, tourism, or hospitality is preferred; CDME certification is a plus.
