Job description

About the Company

MISUMI Americas is part of MISUMI Group and provides standard, configurable, and custom manufacturing solutions. By combining a broad component catalog with a digital manufacturing platform, the company helps engineering and procurement teams move faster from concept to production. With operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago, it supports innovative businesses throughout the Americas.

Role Overview

The Vice President of Logistics & Warehousing will report to the Senior Vice President of Operations & Supply Chain and lead the end-to-end logistics and warehousing function for MISUMI Americas. The role covers inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse operations, carrier relationships, trade compliance, import execution, and distribution network planning. In addition to overseeing Americas operations, the leader will work with global supply regions across Asia, Mexico, and other locations to strengthen outbound logistics practices and improve overall supply chain performance.

This is a remote position, but it requires regular travel of about 25% to 40% to warehouses, customer sites, and operational hubs, mainly across North America and Mexico.

Key Impact

This executive will shape and carry out the logistics and warehousing strategy for the Americas in alignment with the company’s global supply chain direction. The right candidate will be a practical, strategic leader capable of managing complex distribution networks, improving transportation design, strengthening compliance, and building scalable operating models across multiple distribution centers.

The role also calls for deep expertise in logistics, warehousing, import operations, carrier management, and global supply chain execution, along with a strong ability to lead teams, oversee substantial budgets, and improve results through data, technology, AI, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Set and implement the logistics and warehousing strategy for the Americas in line with the wider global supply chain plan.
  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing organization of logistics managers, warehouse supervisors, and operations analysts.
  • Represent logistics at the executive level in planning, budgeting, and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Promote a site-wide culture centered on safety, ownership, and continuous improvement across all distribution centers.
  • Drive the use of AI and new technologies as key parts of the logistics strategy, while reinforcing a data-led improvement mindset.
  • Manage daily warehouse activity across all distribution centers, including receiving, inventory control, pick/pack/ship, and returns.
  • Track and improve core warehouse KPIs such as inventory turnover, contribution profit, order accuracy, on-time fulfillment, dock-to-stock time, and productivity.
  • Oversee facility changes such as rationalization, relocations, expansions, and greenfield projects when business needs require them.
  • Handle facility contract negotiations where needed.
  • Improve warehouse management systems and automation tools to raise throughput, accuracy, and scale.
  • Ensure business continuity plans for warehousing operations are documented and ready for activation.
  • Evaluate and pilot AI-based tools for forecasting, slotting, labor planning, and inventory placement to improve efficiency and reduce variability.
  • Manage and negotiate with parcel, LTL, FTL, and international freight carriers.
  • Design shipping lanes and transportation networks to lower cost per shipment while preserving service levels.
  • Guide last-mile delivery strategy and the customer delivery experience.
  • Oversee freight audit, compliance, and claims handling.
  • Use AI-based routing and carrier analytics to reduce freight cost, improve delivery performance, and strengthen the customer experience.
  • Lead all import operations for products sourced from globally distributed supply regions.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection rules, import/export controls, and trade agreement requirements.
  • Manage catalog HTS classification activity proactively.
  • Prepare and secure eRulings when necessary to reduce risk and cost.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and trade compliance counsel.
  • Track changes in tariff codes, duty rates, and trade policy that can affect landed cost and supply continuity.
  • Keep import paperwork, HTS classifications, and country-of-origin records accurate across all inbound flows.
  • Act as a logistics expert and strategic partner to global supply regions, helping strengthen outbound logistics capabilities.
  • Spot performance gaps in regional outbound logistics and build improvement plans with local teams.
  • Share Americas frameworks, tools, and best practices to improve consistency and efficiency across the global network.
  • Hold regular discussions with regional logistics leaders to review performance, prioritize support, and monitor shared goals.
  • Work closely with Global Supply Chain, Procurement, and Regional Operations leaders to maintain end-to-end supply continuity.
  • Own the Americas logistics P&L and manage annual budgets above $10 million with a focus on cost discipline.
  • Create reporting and dashboard tools that give senior leadership clear operational visibility.
  • Drive savings through network redesign, labor optimization, and vendor consolidation.
  • Introduce AI-enabled visibility and analytics tools to regional teams where helpful, raising logistics maturity across the organization.

Travel and Physical Requirements

  • The role involves extended periods of sitting.
  • Frequent travel is expected to MISUMI Americas QCT locations across the United States and Mexico.
  • Overall travel will typically fall between 25% and 40%.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a VP-level or similarly senior executive role.
  • Strong history of managing multi-site distribution center networks at scale.

  • Background in B2B industrial, manufacturing, or e-commerce fulfillment environments.

  • Deep knowledge of international trade compliance, import processes, and customs management across multiple source countries.
  • Hands-on experience improving outbound logistics in international or globally distributed operations.
  • Experience using AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics in logistics or supply chain work.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt or an equivalent process improvement credential.
  • Experience implementing automation, robotics, or goods-to-person systems.
