About the Role
The Vice President of Hotel Operations is tasked with leading and managing the overall performance of the fleet's hotel services, ensuring alignment with the company's performance ratings and financial objectives. This executive role emphasizes the execution of Company Charter agreements and involves collaboration with key directors such as Culinary Operations, Hotel Operations Support, Procurement & Logistics, and Finance to oversee the onboard hotel product offerings.
Core Responsibilities
- Drive guest satisfaction and uphold charterer/operator service standards.
- Manage cost control and optimize onboard revenue streams.
- Ensure strict adherence to internal/external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Support crew satisfaction, development, and talent succession planning.
- Lead, coach, and provide management direction to all Hotel Directors reporting to this position.
- Maintain operational performance in line with charter client contracts.
- Develop and enforce company policies and procedures to standardize shipboard hotel operations.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001:2008 quality standards and MLC 2006 regulations.
- Oversee departments including housekeeping, food and beverage, reception, and onboard revenue management.
- Implement programs ensuring compliance with USPH standards through training and internal inspections.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Logistics to keep food, beverage, and consumable specifications current.
- Audit charter contract execution at season start and manage seasonal operations startup and close-down activities.
- Bring unresolved operational issues to the President & CEO when necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in cruise or hospitality industries, with preference for multi-site or multi-ship operations experience.
- Strong customer service skills capable of engaging professionally with diverse clientele.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Effective task prioritization, multitasking, and follow-through skills.
- Proven management, leadership, and team-building experience.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed, plus the flexibility to travel globally.
- Ability to guide teams positively in dynamic settings by inspiring individuals and efficiently managing processes.
- Proficiency with common computer software at an intermediate level.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related fields preferred, or equivalent progressive on-the-job experience.
