Technology and Operations Overview

The Technology & Operations division ensures dependable service delivery, robust infrastructure, and effective control mechanisms. In Australia, the Branch Technology team collaborates closely with Group Technology and local partners to maintain service stability, oversee technology risks, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct technology, risk management, and information security activities for the branch, aligning with business objectives, Group policies, and local regulatory mandates.
• Assume responsibility for availability, resiliency, and supervision of branch technology services, including those provided by Group teams and external vendors.
• Lead the branch’s technology risk and information security framework encompassing risk recognition, control design, monitoring, incident management, and escalation procedures.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory compliance, preparedness for audits, issue remediation, and ongoing enhancements of the technology control landscape.
• Oversee third-party technology and security risks through due diligence, control verification, and vendor management.
• Guide and develop the branch technology team fostering accountability and strong collaboration with stakeholders.

Additional Duties

• Maintain smooth, secure, and resilient technology operations at the branch level.
• Administer the technology risk and information security control environment, including performing control assessments and managing remediation tasks.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as APRA’s prudential requirements CPS 230 and CPS 234.
• Work jointly with Group Technology and local stakeholders to drive projects and troubleshoot service, risk, and control challenges.
• Manage vendor and third-party technology services, focusing on their performance, risk mitigation, and control integrity.
• Provide support for audits, regulatory inspections, and governance meetings through accurate reporting and stakeholder communication.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the branch technology team while providing operational assistance as needed.

Experience and Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in technology within financial services or other regulated industries.
• Skilled in managing a compact, high-performing technology team with direct business interaction.
• Expertise in technology risk, information security, control oversight, and meeting regulatory compliance.
• Experienced in working within matrix organizations involving central tech teams, business units, vendors, auditors, and regulators.
• Strong knowledge of technology risk management, information security, and operational resilience within regulated settings.
• Familiarity with frameworks and regulations like ISO 27001, COBIT, CPS 230, and CPS 234.
• Competent in providing oversight and challenging technology risk and control issues effectively.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and independent work skills in lean environments.
• Experience in security management, vendor risk evaluation, and control testing.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, including managing dispersed teams.
• Possession of a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, technology, cybersecurity, or related disciplines.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or comparable industry-recognized credentials are advantageous.

Location and Employment

The role is based in the DBS Sydney office and is a full-time position with a regular schedule.
