Job description
About Source
Source is pioneering an operating system tailored for the global commercial construction sector, revolutionizing the financial infrastructure that underpins projects, procurement, and vendor relationships in an industry valued over $1 trillion. Operating as an AI-native marketplace, Source integrates cutting-edge technology with complex capital management, trusted by leading clients such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and Disney to handle hundreds of millions in purchasing volume annually through multi-vendor, multi-phase projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire finance division including FP&A, accounting, reporting, and management of cash flows across multiple business streams like project purchases and fee revenue.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO on matters including capital allocation, evolving revenue models, and financial strategy amid Source's AI-driven transformation.
- Develop and maintain robust financial frameworks facilitating Source's shift from managed services to a hybrid platform approach.
- Lead the processes for annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ongoing financial planning.
- Manage project accounting functions covering cost-to-complete tracking, client billing, draw schedule administration, and comprehensive project-level financial analyses.
- Ensure meticulous financial segregation of concurrent projects, adhering to GAAP standards for revenue recognition and cost allocation within construction projects.
- Enforce internal controls tailored for procurement-in-trust operations, safeguarding management of substantial client capital.
- Guide financial due diligence for acquisitions, including earnings quality assessment, revenue concentration analyses, integration cost modeling, and earnout planning.
- Construct detailed valuation and scenario models aligned with Source's growth strategies via M&A focused on client base expansion, geographical growth, and talent acquisition.
- Support merger integration activities such as entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, and tracking performance against earnout targets.
- Collaborate with legal, internal, and external teams concerning deal structures, asset versus entity transactions, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Design reporting and integration processes supporting multi-entity structures and timely consolidation as part of ongoing corporate development.
- Maintain financial transparency and reporting at both individual entity and consolidated portfolio levels for executive and board decision-making.
- Manage relationships with banking partners, auditors, and specialized advisory resources.
- Recruit, evaluate, and grow the finance team to support organizational scaling.
- Lead selection and deployment of financial systems compatible with Source's ERP-agnostic platform and increasing operational complexity.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of advancing experience in finance, including 3 to 5 years in senior leadership positions.
- Proven expertise in project-based construction accounting, encompassing draw management, fraud prevention, project segmentation, and construction-specific revenue recognition.
- Experience managing mergers and acquisitions either within executing companies or through transaction advisory, investment banking, or corporate development roles.
- Background in venture-backed or high-growth tech companies familiar with key financial metrics, cohort economics, and investor-level reporting.
- Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-unit financial structures requiring consolidated financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience embedding AI in financial systems design, including automation, workflow mapping for AI applications, and reduction of manual repetitive finance tasks.
Preferred Attributes
- Knowledge of hybrid business models combining service delivery with software or platform revenue streams.
- Comfortable working in early-stage or evolving finance infrastructure, with an entrepreneurial builder mindset.
- Experience in commercial real estate, construction technology, procurement, or industries related to hospitality.
- Understanding of earnout deal structuring, financial integration post-acquisition, and monitoring performance after close.
- Exposure to external capital raising activities or providing board-level financial updates.
Personal Competencies
- Strong operational insight into financial movements beyond traditional profit and loss perspectives.
- Systems thinker with a focus on process improvements, input optimization, fault tolerance, and actionable feedback mechanisms.
- Effective communicator able to simplify complex financial matters for non-finance leadership and board members.
- Highly self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Collaborative and humble team player, acting as a trusted partner across the executive team rather than a gatekeeper.
Compensation and Opportunity
- Competitive salary range from $221,000 to $252,000 annually.
- Opportunity for influential finance leadership at the crossroads of service and platform business evolution.
- Direct collaboration with the CEO and board, offering a genuine strategic seat at the table.
- Active, accelerating M&A engagements providing hands-on deal involvement.
- Chance to permanently shape the company's financial architecture during its formative growth phase.
