Vice President, Finance

About the Role

Frontier Medicines seeks a Vice President of Finance to act as a key strategic finance collaborator alongside the CFO and executive team. This senior finance leadership position demands a dynamic combination of strong Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) capabilities and deep expertise in technical accounting and SEC compliance. The successful candidate will adeptly manage both the comprehensive annual budgeting process and intricate accounting disclosures or registration statement preparations. Teaming up with the Controller, this role provides senior-level financial oversight including ownership of SEC reporting readiness and technical accounting as the company transitions toward a public entity.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead SEC reporting preparedness and support capital markets initiatives such as registration statements and periodic financial filings (10-K, 10-Q).
• Act as a senior technical accounting advisor collaborating with the Controller on complex accounting topics including revenue recognition, equity, and lease accounting.
• Oversee SOX 404(a)/(b) compliance preparation, designing control environments in partnership with the Controller prior to becoming a public company.
• Develop investor-related financial communication, disclosures, and messaging in close alignment with the CFO.
• Support capital market transactions, coordinating with underwriters, auditors, and legal advisors.
• Manage annual budget cycles, long-term financial planning, and monthly forecasting across all departments with sophisticated financial modeling.
• Serve as a financial business partner for R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Medical, and G&A leaders by translating operational plans into financial frameworks.
• Maintain financial models for capital allocation, cash flow projections, and scenario planning targeted toward the Board and investors.
• Drive accrual forecasting for clinical trials and R&D activities in collaboration with Clinical Development and Controller teams.
• Partner with the CFO on Board presentations and investor materials, producing detailed actual-versus-budget analyses and reporting packages.
• Implement improvements in finance processes and systems, including planning tools and reporting automation to scale operations.
• Provide on-demand financial analysis and project support for the CFO.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required; CPA certification is highly preferred due to the complex accounting and SEC reporting nature of the role. An MBA is desirable.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in finance combining robust FP&A and technical accounting/SEC reporting expertise.
• Prior experience in a Big Four public accounting firm strongly favored, especially followed by industry exposure to biotech or life sciences companies that have undergone major growth stages or transition to public markets.
• Demonstrable, hands-on involvement with SEC reporting cycles, registration statements, and public company finance operations is mandatory.
• Experience working with capital markets transactions, underwriters, auditors, and external counsel is strongly preferred.
• Ability to cooperate effectively with Controllers and accounting teams to provide senior technical accounting insight without duplicating accounting functions.
• Background in clinical trial accounting and biotechnology or therapeutics industries is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills to interpret and convey detailed financial and accounting concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Frontier is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. The salary range allocated for this position spans from $250,000 to $310,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
