Position Overview

Frontier Medicines invites applications for a Research Associate II to join our In Vivo Pharmacology team located in South San Francisco. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in practical in vivo pharmacology within our vivarium alongside translational research duties. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary group in a fast-paced drug discovery setting, supporting various internal preclinical projects and advancing translational medicine efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in vivo experiments to assess efficacy and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic/target engagement relationships of innovative compounds across different projects.
  • Conduct murine tumor model studies, encompassing animal care, delivery of treatments through various administration routes, and continuous health assessments.
  • Carry out procedures such as mouse necropsies, tissue harvesting, blood sampling, and sample preparation for downstream processing.
  • Prepare and formulate test compounds for administration in vivo.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and coordinate shipment of biological samples to internal or external teams.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and institutional protocols including IACUC and GLP/non-GLP guidelines, documenting all experiments meticulously in an electronic laboratory notebook.
  • Apply knowledge of cell culture techniques as required.

Translational Research Duties

  • Oversee mouse tumor model activities conducted at Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and through external partnerships.
  • Design and lead in vivo tumor model studies collaboratively with the Translational Medicine team.
  • Manage multiple ongoing in vivo studies spanning various programs simultaneously.
  • Analyze data and prepare detailed presentations for stakeholders both inside and outside the company.
  • Communicate effectively across teams and external collaborators, contributing scientific insight beyond experimental data.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in biological sciences such as animal science, pharmacology, cellular biology, biomedical sciences, or related fields.
  • Two to four years of relevant industry experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors, specifically within in vivo pharmacology or translational medicine settings.
  • Experience with oncology-focused cancer biology, cancer drug discovery team collaborations, rodent cancer models, and drug efficacy evaluation.
  • Skilled in in vivo experimental techniques including dosing methods, blood collection, and tumor model development.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and juggle multiple responsibilities effectively in a dynamic startup environment.
  • Keen to acquire new laboratory techniques and rigorously adhere to instructions.
  • Dedicated to conducting high-quality scientific work in a professional setting.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.

Compensation Details

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 annually. Compensation will be calibrated based on the candidate’s expertise, qualifications, and experience.
