Job description

Position Overview

Stoppler Hughes is seeking a knowledgeable and strategic Vice President of Finance based in Calgary. This executive role involves leading financial strategy, managing liquidity, and overseeing risk, with particular attention to hedging tactics, working capital management, and maximizing EBITDA conversion to cash. The VP will take proactive measures to maintain cash flow and provide comprehensive financial reporting to the Management Team concerning hedge exposures, liquidity management, working capital, and key financial metrics.

Primary Duties

  • Drive the creation, execution, and ongoing enhancement of forecasting models to support strategic business decisions.
  • Lead the budgeting process and oversee allocation of capital by assessing investment opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to debt covenants and financing agreements, identifying potential risks and proposing necessary remedial actions.
  • Supervise daily cash management, banking partnerships, and maintenance of adequate cash reserves to fulfill operational and strategic needs.
  • Manage accounts receivable functions including invoicing, collections, and credit control to optimize receivables performance.
  • Direct accounts payable processes to guarantee timely supplier payments while optimizing cash resources and sustaining vendor relationships.
  • Enhance cash conversion efficiency related to receivables, payables, and inventories.
  • Oversee hedging strategies to maintain alignment with operational requirements and risk policies, evaluating exposures based on business demands and contractual obligations.
  • Assess financial market conditions regularly and recommend strategic modifications to protect organizational financial outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor financial KPIs such as EBITDA, cash flow, and profitability, delivering actionable insights to executive leadership.
  • Analyze profit margins to detect patterns, boost financial performance, and guide investment decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, accounting teams, and controllers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 10 to 20+ years of experience in finance leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise with private equity-backed firms or in the energy sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of cash flow management, debt and lender relations, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience in managing teams and strong leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication abilities, including presenting to executive-level audiences.

Additional Information

This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Compensation includes a base salary range of $165,000 to $200,000 plus a bonus of 10% to 20%.
