About the Role
The Walt Disney Company is hiring a Vice President of Corporate Strategy to help guide the company’s long-range direction and create influence across the enterprise. This role is central to major decisions, working with senior leaders, business segments, and the Board to define priorities, assess expansion opportunities, and shape capital allocation choices that support Disney’s future growth.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of large, cross-functional strategic programs from start to finish while working closely with segment leadership.
- Build agreement across teams and turn strategy into practical execution plans.
- Bring a strong, independent perspective to senior leaders on major business decisions.
- Drive enterprise planning efforts that define the outlook for the business and guide capital allocation.
- Work with Finance, Investor Relations, and business leaders to align on targets, scenarios, and long-term priorities.
- Formulate views on growth, risk, and trade-offs that affect the company.
- Review the portfolio through strategic and financial lenses to uncover ways to improve value and reduce risk.
- Spot both incremental and transformational growth possibilities across existing businesses and adjacent markets.
- Evaluate long-term performance and support decisions that improve returns and enterprise value.
- Assess M&A, partnership, and new business opportunities in core and related sectors.
- Partner with Corporate Development and outside advisors to support decisions and execution.
- Study opportunities within current businesses, adjacencies, and new growth areas.
- Lead competitive research and benchmarking to inform corporate strategy.
- Build a clear perspective on the changing market and Disney’s ability to compete and succeed.
- Track emerging trends such as technology and consumer behavior and translate them into strategic implications.
- Collaborate across segments, Investor Relations, FP&A, and Corporate Development to maintain alignment.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on critical business choices.
- Develop strong relationships across the company to support effective decision-making and execution.
- Lead and grow a high-performing strategy team with accountability and clear ownership.
- Promote a collaborative, accountable, and development-focused team culture.
- Coach team members and create opportunities that help build future strategy leaders.
What We’re Looking For
- 15 or more years of experience in corporate strategy, consulting, investment banking, or private equity.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale strategy work and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Strong financial skills, including modeling, valuation, and capital allocation analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and sharp analytical thinking.
- Strong communication skills, including executive-level storytelling and presentations.
- Experience in media, entertainment, or technology is preferred.
- Background in corporate strategy, business development, or investment-related roles is preferred.
- An MBA or comparable advanced degree is preferred.
- Ability to simplify complexity into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong business judgment with a focus on long-term value creation.
- Ability to align diverse stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- A collaborative, low-ego leadership style that performs well in a high-expectation team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
The hiring range for this Burbank, CA role is $236,600 to $316,500 per year. Actual base pay may differ based on internal equity, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may also be included, along with the full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the level and position offered.
