Position Summary
The Vice President and General Manager oversees business leadership, strategic growth, and financial performance, driving strategy, project execution, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the CEO of Babcock Power, this role merges executive leadership with technical supervision to ensure the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, development of high-performance teams, and attainment of long-term objectives.
Leadership & Business Management
- Oversee all operations of the Power Delivery division including engineering, business development, and financial results.
- Develop and implement both annual and long-range growth plans aligned with corporate goals.
- Promote team accountability through performance monitoring, reporting, and continuous refinement.
- Foster a culture emphasizing safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Project Execution & Operations
- Guarantee timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of all projects meeting quality standards.
- Collaborate with project management, estimating, procurement, and business development teams to ensure project success.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels, equipment availability, and resources to support business functions.
Business Development & Strategy
- Lead initiatives to expand the business by cultivating client relations and pursuing new market segments, leveraging expertise in utility construction contracts.
- Establish strategic alliances and broaden customer networks, ensuring sustained partnerships.
- Contribute to strategic planning and prepare annual business plans.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and sustain strong customer relationships, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction.
- Address and resolve significant project or client issues effectively, mitigating risks.
- Represent the company in industry groups and forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or business management.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive leadership experience in power delivery.
- Extensive background in engineering design, operations, and managing project delivery.
- Proven track record with P&L responsibility and executive leadership.
- Preferably holds an Electrical PE license.
Technical Expertise
- Comprehensive understanding of transmission, distribution, substations, and power systems.
- Experience working with utilities and executing power delivery projects.
- Knowledgeable in project management tools including scheduling and risk assessment.
Key Competencies
- Exceptional leadership, strategic decision-making, and critical thinking capabilities.
- Ability to manage technical excellence alongside budget and schedule constraints.
- Customer-centric approach with proven success in creating lasting relationships.
