Overview
The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) is Qatar's pioneering applied university offering applied Bachelor's and Master's degrees alongside certificates and diplomas across diverse fields, including Engineering Technology, Industrial Trades, Business Management, IT, Health Sciences, and Professional Education. Role Purpose
This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing academic affairs and steering the implementation of UDST's Teaching and Learning Strategy to advance institutional objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide top-level direction for a comprehensive Academic Affairs strategy that supports UDST's academic, technical, and vocational goals.
- Advise the University President on crafting academic policies and plans aligned with UDST’s mission and strategic aims.
- Establish and nurture internal and external relationships to advance UDST's TVET mission across committees and boards locally and internationally.
- Lead the development and quality assurance of relevant technical and applied academic programs aligned with market needs.
- Participate in shaping UDST’s overall strategic agenda.
- Oversee the rollout of the academic strategy ensuring alignment with broader institutional goals through divisional initiatives.
- Ensure the establishment and adherence to academic policies, procedures, and guidelines governing institutional delivery.
- Regularly monitor academic division performance against predefined KPIs.
- Collaborate on the formulation and monitoring of the annual academic budget with support services.
- Build partnerships with other educational institutions, industry, governmental bodies, and community groups to enhance academic offerings.
- Provide visionary leadership in experiential learning, academic quality, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record within internationally reputable higher education frameworks and solid familiarity with global accreditation processes. Experience in multicultural academic settings is advantageous.
Qualifications
- PhD from an accredited university in fields such as Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated extensive senior leadership experience in academic environments with complex operation management and innovation focus.
Experience
- At least 15 years of cumulative professional experience, with minimum 5 years in senior leadership roles in fast-growing university or college settings.
- Experience evaluating faculty promotion dossiers and fostering strong leadership teams dedicated to academic excellence.
Language Requirements
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Arabic is mandatory.
