Veterinary Nurse - Small Animal

All Care Veterinary Centre in Walkinstown, Dublin 12 is hiring a Veterinary Nurse for a small-animal practice. The position is permanent, with full-time hours preferred, although part-time arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. The practice is a long-established, fully small-animal clinic with a strong client base, high care standards, and a welcoming team culture. It is particularly suited to a junior to mid-level nurse who enjoys hands-on clinical work and wants room to grow without the demands of out-of-hours or on-call duties.

Working pattern

A full-time schedule is based on 40 hours per week, with shifts arranged from Monday to Saturday. Usual shift times are 8:00am to 4:00pm or 11:00am to 7:00pm. Weekend cover is shared evenly, with a maximum of two Saturdays per month, typically 8:00am to 3:00pm. There is no Sunday work, no bank holiday work, and no out-of-hours or on-call commitment.

Key duties

You will contribute across the full range of small-animal nursing work, with responsibilities spanning theatre support, medical and clinical nursing, inpatient care, dentistry, radiography, laboratory tasks, infection prevention, dispensary activity, and client communication. The role offers real responsibility while keeping experienced colleagues close by for guidance and support.

Practice environment

The clinic is equipped to a modern standard, including digital X-ray, ultrasound, and dental facilities. The team consists of 3 veterinary surgeons, 4 registered veterinary nurses, a student nurse, a practice manager, and a receptionist. The workplace is described as close-knit, positive, and built around strong communication and quality patient care.

Candidate profile

Applications are welcome from nurses at any experience level, from newly qualified to several years in practice. Candidates must be VCI registered or eligible to register. The ideal person will bring a positive attitude, work well in a team, stay organised, and be motivated to learn, develop, and provide excellent patient care.

Development and progression

Graduates can access the Graduate Nurse Academy, while more experienced nurses may progress through Nurse Evolve, leadership routes, and funded certificate options. The role is intended to support growth at a pace that suits the individual.

Pay

Salary is quoted at €30,000 to €40,000 per year, depending on experience.
