About the Role
Veterinary Associates Equine based in Karaka, Auckland, is inviting applications for a part-time Vet Assistant and Yard Person. The role involves working alongside a committed team of sixteen veterinarians, seven nurses, and four vet assistants caring for patients at the Equine Hospital in South Auckland.
Work Schedule
The role requires availability on weekends, specifically Saturdays and Sundays, with shifts scheduled and shared among team members. Typically, you will work every alternate weekend and some public holidays. The hospital operates routine appointments Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with emergency vet care available 24/7.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing daily tasks such as mucking out and feeding the hospital patients.
- Holding and restraining patients during veterinary procedures.
- Supporting veterinarians and nurses as required throughout patient care.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrable experience handling horses and a strong ability to manage equine patients safely.
- Willingness and physical capability to undertake manual and labor-intensive duties.
- A positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative attitude within a team environment.
