Role overview
RAC is hiring Vehicle Assessment Technicians to join its Inspections team in Chelmsford. This site-based position plays an important part in delivering high-quality vehicle condition reports and inspections for client locations. You will work alongside experienced inspectors and contribute to the organisation’s continued growth and service standards.
This opportunity is open both to newly qualified candidates who want to start an automotive career and to experienced vehicle technicians looking for their next step. The role includes access to training designed to build expertise in the field.
Key duties
- Carry out inspections according to defined procedures and record outcomes using a PDA report template.
- Prepare used-vehicle condition reports.
- Support smooth daily inspection activity by working closely with team members on site.
- Communicate and maintain working relationships with customer contacts.
What you will need
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience gained in the motor trade.
- Good practical understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Awareness of vehicle diagnostics, software updates, and electric or hybrid vehicles would be beneficial.
- Strong written communication skills and the confidence to communicate effectively at different levels.
- A full UK driving licence.

The salary offered is £27,850 base pay, with earning potential of up to £38,000 OTE.
