Role Summary
OPENLANE is hiring a Vehicle Check-In Clerk to support vehicle inventory handling, auction preparation, and lot coordination within an automotive operations environment. This role is best suited to someone with dealership or similar experience who is comfortable managing vehicle movement, inspections, and transport readiness.

Key Duties
The position involves preparing vehicles for auction and remarketing, keeping the lot organized, and helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
- Get vehicles ready for auction or remarketing by making sure they are operational, including boosting batteries, adding fuel, handling lockouts, preparing units for towing, inflating tires, and staging vehicles for reconditioning or transport.
- Move, label, and flag vehicles according to instructions.
- Handle vehicle check-in and check-out processes by recording services, completing arrival inspections, photographing vehicles after reconditioning, and entering vehicle details into the AMS system.
- Maintain a tidy, well-organized lot and complete regular inventory scans.
- Support customers and internal teams when vehicles need to be located or retrieved.
- Help maintain site security by supporting auction perimeter control and verifying proper entry and exit clearance for staff, customers, and transporters.
- Assist with additional operational tasks such as data entry in MOS and other systems, as well as snow removal tasks that may include clearing vehicles, light shoveling, and operating equipment like a plow truck, bobcat, or loader.
Working Conditions
This job requires comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including severe weather, cold winter temperatures, rain, and summer heat. Employees may also be expected to pause tasks and shift focus to support other departments when priority requests arise.

Requirements
- Prior experience in a dealership or comparable organization, especially with vehicle inventory coordination and preparing vehicles for transport
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Comfort operating motor vehicles safely in line with driver safety procedures
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency
- Customer service and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
- Experience operating plow trucks, bobcats, loaders, and/or tow trucks
- License to operate motorcycles or ATVs
