Job description
About Loop IQ
Loop IQ is an intelligence platform built for care organisations that need to move past disconnected spreadsheets and manual reporting. The platform is designed to provide accuracy, auditability, and the confidence required in regulated settings. In addition to the software product, Loop IQ also has a consulting practice that supports organisations with implementation and optimisation so the technology performs well from the start.
Why Join Loop IQ
- Work on meaningful problems that can improve outcomes across aged care and affect millions of Australians.
- Be supported through learning budgets, performance bonuses, and wellbeing-focused support.
- Join a small, high-trust team that values openness, speed, and diverse viewpoints.
- Gain exposure to health data, government, and enterprise relationships that are difficult to access at this stage of a company.
Role Overview
Loop IQ is seeking a mid-level UX/UI Designer to lift the visual quality of its platform and marketing touchpoints. This is a design-led, UI-focused position centred on visual refinement, design system growth, and consistent brand expression across product and external materials.
The assignment runs for 6 months. Melbourne-based applicants are preferred and should be available to work from the Melbourne office at least two days each week. However, strong candidates based elsewhere in Australia may work remotely. The company is open to either a full-time arrangement or a 4-day week at 0.8 FTE.
The right person will bring strong visual craft, care deeply about design systems, and know how to bring brand into the interface without compromising usability. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams, and your work will be expected to move into production.
Please note that a portfolio is mandatory. Applications without a portfolio link or attached samples will not be considered.
What You Will Be Doing
- Create polished, brand-aligned UI for new and existing product features, including screen design and interaction states.
- Take ownership of the design system and keep it evolving through components, tokens, typography, spacing, iconography, and state management.
- Convert PRDs, product briefs, and rough flow concepts into high-fidelity Figma designs that are ready for handoff to engineering.
- Ensure consistency across the product, marketing website, sales materials, and customer-facing documentation.
- Build Figma prototypes for stakeholder reviews and lightweight usability testing.
- Work with engineers during implementation, review the built interface, and refine details so the delivered product matches the design intent.
- Assist marketing and sales with brand-consistent assets for landing pages, release notes, and demo content.
- Apply UX judgement to identify confusing flows and recommend stronger alternatives.
- Record design decisions, patterns, and usage rules so the design system remains scalable as the team expands.
Experience and Background Needed
- At least 4 years of experience as a UX/UI Designer or Product Designer, ideally in B2B SaaS or another data-heavy product environment.
- A portfolio that clearly shows strong typography, layout, colour use, visual hierarchy, and attention to detail.
- Proven experience either owning or contributing significantly to a design system, including components, variants, and tokens.
- Advanced Figma skills, including auto-layout, variables, components, and prototyping.
- The ability to move brand into interface design and interface work back into brand expression while keeping the product usable.
- Solid UX foundations, with the ability to produce effective user flows and information architecture when needed.
- Practical experience maintaining a component library at production scale.
- Confidence defining and enforcing design tokens such as colour, spacing, typography, and elevation.
- A strong eye for consistency across product, marketing, and sales experiences.
- Comfort working alongside engineers during implementation and iterating on shipped UI.
- Clear communication skills for explaining design decisions to product, engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work from PRDs, product briefs, or broad direction and turn them into concrete design outcomes.
Working Style
- Strong ownership and pride in what gets shipped, not just what gets designed.
- Comfortable maintaining a high visual standard.
- Experience working in Agile teams, including stand-ups, planning, and retrospectives.
- Strong communication across both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable collaborating across product, engineering, marketing, and sales.
- Demonstrated practical use of AI tools in a professional setting, including responsible AI-assisted ideation or prototyping.
Bonus Experience
- Exposure to health care or aged care environments.
- Experience designing for regulated sectors or data-rich enterprise tools such as dashboards, analytics, or reporting products.
- Motion design or micro-interaction experience.
- Basic familiarity with front-end code such as HTML/CSS, or the ability to read component code in React or Vue for better handoff conversations.
- Experience contributing to brand refreshes or visual identity work.
Additional Information
This role is open as either a full-time position or a 4-day week arrangement at 0.8 FTE. Melbourne candidates are preferred for a hybrid setup with at least two in-office days per week, while remote working is available for strong applicants elsewhere in Australia. A portfolio is required for consideration. The role is a 6-month contract.
